Huawei H112-370: certificate (hirouter.net) revoked + Three 5G drops

Hi there,

I have a Huawei H112-370 5G CPE originally from Relish, but we've now been migrated to the Three network.

Recently I've had two annoying issues which make me want to switch to fiber :

1. I haven't been able to access the web interface for a few weeks now, because browsers complain that its "hirouter.net" domain TLS certificate has been revoked !

Background : when you connect to the web interface using the router's IP address, it redirects the browser to "hirouter.net" - a domain that the router's built-in DNS server intercepts and points to the local IP address. It's a hack to make the URL prettier I suppose, but fair enough.

This worked fine until maybe 2 weeks ago, when browsers started refusing connecting to the domain, claiming the SSL certificate has been revoked.
Indeed looking at the certificate, it looks like the intermediary certificate "Actalis Organization Validated Server CA G2" has been revoked. The browser probably fetches an external certificate revocation list, and this one has been blacklisted.

The real fix would be a firmware update with a new cert I suppose, but nothing has been coming ! In the meantime, I have to manually download and trust these certificates on every computer I want to access the web interface from. Which is neither convenient nor safe.

I'm not even hoping to explain that to Three's clueless tech support.
Did anybody see that ?
Could I just tell them the router is broken and somehow manage to get sent a new one ?
I don't think the H112-370 is the current one they provide : a support guy once tried to take me through menus which were for a different router, and he knew nothing about Relish or mine (as you would expect).

2. 5G constantly dropping.

I guess it's the issue described here : https://www.ispreview.co.uk/talk/threads/huawei-h112-370-5g-reception-keeps-cutting-out.36400/

Had zero issues for a year on Relish. Got migrated to Three's network in September, started having no 5G for days, then back to 5G for a few days without changing anything.

Not officially in 5G coverage zone (which in itself is outrageous : they migrated existing 5G Relish customers to Three without checking 5G coverage was equivalent !), but my iPhone 12 gets 5G fine, and when we do have 5G on the CPE it's around 300Mbps.

Any tips ?
And any pointers for getting more access to the router (through a firmware upgrade maybe), as the default options are very lacking ?

Cheers

Have the exact same issue with the expired certificate.

Thought it was something I did with the settings, but a factory reset didn't fix the issue.
I'm also hesitant to alert Three tech support as I figure it would be a waste of both parties time.

I get the same issue with accessing the web interface. You can get around it by accessing the device via https as that won't redirect you to hirouter.

Thank you, Mitarashi Dango!

https://192.168.8.1 got me back into the router (after I added a security exception).

I have been through the same experience as reno08 - I had a great 5G service until I was forcibly migrated to Three's main network in October in an area where they don't officially provide 5G and am now constantly getting dropped down to 4G.

Probably due to the £10 for 6 months (on a 24 month contract) offer they're flogging at the moment impacting the quality of service for existing customers.....
