Huawei H112-370 on EE 5G issues

Something weird is going on. I've posted this a couple of times and both times it's disappeared. Trying once more...

I have been having issues with my Huawei H112-370 running on EE 5G. The speeds are amazing (usually 400Mbps down, 60Mbps up) as I get a full signal indoors by the window despite the EE coverage checker saying I should only get a weak signal outside.

However, after a while, at random times, data throughput completely stops despite the router still showing a full signal. It then comes and goes but is only really fixed with a reboot. This appears to be a different issue to on another thread here where the router drops 5G and goes onto 4G only.

I've spent hours on the phone to EE and they are convinced there's nothing wrong at their end. They reset network settings and we tried a new SIM. The third-party seller on Amazon doesn't want to send me a replacement in case it also has the same issues and just wants me to return it instead. He's under the impression that the router works fine on Vodafone's and Three's 5G and there is some incompatibility with EE. It did run fine on Vodafone 4G but the network coverage here wasn't very good.

I'm trying to work out what my next steps would be and it would help to know if anyone else is using this router on EE 5G and has similar issues. From the EE forums, it looks like it could be a flaw with the router design but without trying another one, I don't know for sure.

So my choices are:
- Buy the router again from a different seller which will cost me £25 more
- Buy the newer H122-373 which will cost me around £60-80 more depending on whether I buy it from a third-party seller on Amazon or direct from them in Germany
- Buy a significantly cheaper 4G router with a high CAT rating but then it won't be future-proofed (I've put the H112-370 into 4G-only mode and I'm still getting speeds of 200Mbps which before I experienced 5G, I'd have been delighted with as I'm unable to get fibre here).

Any info/advice gratefully received.

Is the router syncing time correctly? (rebooting it would solve that, as there would be a time sync happen on reboot) I've had this issue with my Huawei B535 causing all WiFi to go down, (it still remains connected to the router perfectly) but all web connectivity is zero (due to DCHP lease times being out of whack.)

That’s a very interesting idea. I don’t think it’s a DHCP lease issue as I had one machine with a hardcoded IP address but it’s definitely something to look out for. The router was actually set to Amsterdam time. I’ve now changed this to GMT London (there doesn’t appear to be anything to set BST so it’s now showing an hour behind) but it would be amazing if this solved it!

A quick update on this. I now have the H122-373 and it's suffering none of the problems I was getting with the H112-370. Frustrating that it's cost me an extra £50 but not the end of the world in the grand scheme of things.

Despite being smaller so potentially having a smaller aerial, I'm still getting great speeds. Just a shame that the 373 doesn't allow me to set a static route which I believe the 370 did allow (I think I saw the setting but not totally sure as I didn't requireit then). I wonder if this might be enabled in a future software update.

I do wonder if the 370 that I received was supposed to be used for a particular network and had been customised. In order to set IPv4-mode only, I had to use Chrome's Developer tools to unhide some options. I was under the impression that this wasn't required for the generic version of the 370.

What's your 2.4GHz range like on the CPE Pro 2. Mine is very VERY poor compared to the trusty B525 it replaced

I am on .19 but having problems with my cpe pro 2. For example I am trying to mesh with the huawei ax3 pro and it only connects at 2.4ghz. Also when I change the ip on dchp settings, I have to log back into the gui but it says the password is incorrect.

That’s odd - mine says it’s on the latest firmware and doesn’t give me the option for .19. I assume yours is 10.0.5.19?

Try to clear your browser cache and cookies or use private browsing, it'll let you in.

Hi.

Stumbled on the thread after pulling my hair out with my CPE PRO2.

It seems like i have a similar issue as you. I am using the DECO m4 Mesh system and I'm wondering if this is causing a drop in my Internet connection when the WiFi is not in use.

Whenever i go to sleep and or go to work i come back to dead WiFi. I can connect but there's no actual data throughput.

I have the Deco in AP mode and the Huawei in Router mode.

Please help!

I had the same issue, when using LTE monitor i disabled the 5g and never had the drops, it seems to be an issue with the CPE pro dropping 5g signal. have a google and you will see others have had it. dont know what the cpre pro 2 is like but i managed to send mine back to EE and come out of contract with them because of it
