Huawei H122-373 (CPE Pro 2) - Firmware Update Go / No-Go

Hey Folks

Had this router lying around a while and have been testing again it as a backup connection recently with EE and Smarty SIMs to see what local mast performance is like.

Anyway following a SIM swap from EE to Smarty, I received the following firmware update prompt.

I'm disinclined to upgrade the firmware as the default version appears to be working flawlessly, but are there actually any advantages to running this particular version?

Cheers

Not that I've looked/paid attention recently, but that's the first version 11 Huawei firmware mention I've seen

My CPE Pro 2 updated to the above around 3 weeks ago with just the 3 sim.

As you probably know I have no 5G so don’t know how it affects that if at all, but 4G is fine as ever.

I haven't noticed any difference to the connection, or router features either.

This has been the only update I've ever had in 2 and a half years.

Cheers @The Wee Bear. I was leery given the somewhat chequered history of Three OTA firmware updates going pear-shaped
I was very surprised when it appeared Pheasant, but it updated perfectly for me, first update I've had since the out of the box update 2 and a half years ago, as you probably know, Huawei router updates are as rare as hens teeth. 😊

Thanks for the update. It’s good to know the upgrade was fine and the new version 11 is stable. Not to say the factory installed firmware is anything but.

Yes it certainly is very stable for my 4G anyway Pheasant, stays connected for weeks on end with no disconnections until I interfere with it.

Hopefully one day I will get to see that on 5G too. 😊

Unbranded here too, purchased many moons ago on Amazon brand new.

Is this update just for Three UK routers? Has anyone had 11.0.2.11 on an unbranded / other network H122-373?
Unbranded here. Brought last year from Sotel.

This update only showed with a Smarty SIM inserted. With an EE SIM in it for 10 days it showed no update.

Strange, mine says no update available and still running H329SP4C21

Three-branded CPE Pro 2 (unlocked) running Smarty

That said, the router does update every few months without changing the build number (you can use the hi-link app so see when yours last updated).

I discovered this when the router setup page (web) security certificate expired and then a few weeks later silently got extended. (current one expires 16/11/22)

A recent update broke DNS settings. They no longer save. (You have to unhide them using javascript, but settings no longer stick).

That aside, this is still the best router I've ever used. Strong wifi throughout with link speed of 2.4Gbps to my desktop computer over WiFi 6

Finally got my update through overnight. Nice to see my "hacked" DNS and band selection settings are all intact. Huactrl still works also - don't see any improvement in my signal readings though. I notice my speed test results are a smidge faster but that might just be a coincidence.

I have an unlocked CPE pro 2 in bridge mode. I've never received an update yet and still on 10.5.1. It's always had a three sim installed. I factory reset it the other week which took it out of bridge mode but still nothing.

Have you tried changing the APN?
