HUGE probs with changing ISPs!!!

Hi there!
Blimey found this site by accident and am so pleased I have!!

Have attached my long complaint letter re me wanting to change ISPs as I live in a village yet have had to pay for the most expensive Sky Broadband package - yet my parent can get Broadband FOC!!!!

For the past weeks and months since 6 March 2010 have suffered real stress, anxiety and panic attacks which can all be verified by my GP - as Sky & BT have left me without the Internet access!!! I'm disabled too and rely on my Internet for banking, shopping anda window to the big world outside!!!:crap::crap::crap:

Firstly, can you tell us more about your situation and what "FOC" is? I'm sure there are plenty of people who can offer help and advice but we do need some more detail to work off.

In the meantime you might find our ISP Complaints and Advice page of some use:

PS - You can't attach files on this forum for security and performance reasons, though you can quote within your message; "short and sweet" descriptions are more preferable :) .

Ah thanks Martin :) .

Well in that case it's worth considering that your parents will only get a tiny 2GB usage allowance for downloads, while the most "expensive" Sky Broadband Unlimited package offers supposedly "truly unlimited" downloading. I should say that at £10 per month with the free talk package we wouldn't call it pricey.

Exactly. It's hard to call a free 2GB package a worthwhile alternative to unlimited downloads and uploads. Most heavy internet users (considering we're on a broadband forum, I'd say that includes us) would rather pay the £10 monthly and get truly unlimited data usage. 2GB per month barely even lets you access the best parts of the internet.

theres no such thing as truely unlimited...

there will always be some kind of limit somewhere, whether it be contention ratios to Fair Usage Policies.. in fact a recent news topic posted notes that O2s unlimited packages arent so unlimited, and they have been sending out letters to users who download 40+GIG, AOL kicked me off their networking because l used more than 60GB, and that was supposed to be unlimited as well..

in all honesty regardless of how things are glazed over there is a catch somewhere, and one thing l will mention is that in most cases, unlimited doesnt mean data they are referring to time online or at least thats the excuse lve always been given even tho they try wording it different when you view their websites.
