This weekend I cut my neighbour's BT fibre line since they installed it with cable ties on my water downpipe and the cable was crossing over the side hedge which I was prunning (see image below with the new fibre connection and the old copper cable). Fibre cables can't be joined back like copper cables as they need specialised equipment. And getting installer appointments from any ISP these days will usually involve a 2 week or longer delay. So if you get FTTP installed in the future make sure the fibre cable drop is secured safely to your house in a way that can't be easily damaged.
I have shared my internet with my neighbour's which is the least I can do for the trouble caused but I doubt this sort of installation was done to BT approved standards.
