I don't think I have seen it mentioned yet, so thought I would post here that they have a new set of tiers just released including a 2.5Gb up and down WFH Tier at £57 and a gamer tier at £63 per month. Certainly not cheap, but I imagine the name and speeds may bring a few people to sign up still.

I'm currently with IDNet via city fibre very happy with the service. Anyone know what the sign up process is for a current customer for 2gig service?. Can't see any upgrade options in my admin panel, I also only have the gigabit ONT so i assume city fibre would need to come and install the 2.5gbps ONT?.

Just give them a call or send an email. They’re really quick to respond and very helpful. They’ll know the process. Speaking for other companies, it should be as simple as doing a regrade order and then booking an appointment for CityFibre to come out with a new ONT that supports the faster speeds. Should only take a few minutes to swap them out and provision the new one on your connection.

Thanks for the reply, I have dropped them an e-mail about the upgrade they have asked me what ONT I have so as you said I assume they will book me in for a new one. are the 2.5gb ONT's a standard now for cityfibre installs?. I'm just worried they book me up for a replacement and they only have the gigabit ONT's rather than the new 2.5. Whats the lead time now for cityfibre Appointments these days?.

Just a little update the ONT replacement costs £60 on monthly contract and free for 12/24 months. Going to go for gamer max package as i don't have any network hardware that is capable of 2gb and i don't want to pay £230+ upfront for a capable router. It's a 24 month contract but i don't care is I've been with IDNet for ages now and they are great.

I assume they standard now, I was given a 2.5g, which I think is the 'Calix GP1000g' model.

I'm in a XGS Area and IDNet/CityFibre installed a 2.5Gb capable Calix GP1100X For me last year despite not going multi-gig. There was no charge for this as part of my installation.

As for lead times, CityFibre are generally out for an appointment in 3 days for an install. Occasionally less for repairs.

Was able to do the upgrade through my control panel through modify service, Had confirmation of the order just waiting for a date for Cityfibre to come out and do the swap, Think i got there just in time as the ROG Rapture GT-AX6000 seems out of stock now.

Well it's been 5 days so far after receiving my order confirmation haven't heard anything since, Looking at other ISP's you can easily make a City fibre engineer appointment in the order process on the website. Not entirely sure what I am waiting for here. I assume I'm waiting for them to make an appointment for me but it shouldn't really take this long to get a engineer visit date.

Got a reply:

We are still waiting on the carrier to confirm the order has been accepted. What does this mean?.

IDnet are one of the easiest, and most pleasant, ISPs to talk to over the phone. I'd simply call them and ask.

11 days after the order engineer is booked for 16th for ONT swap, Router is being shipped tomorrow so should be here Wednesday. So far so good lets hope everything continues to go smoothly.
