Try to see if the bands change, when speeds change. You should be able to lock onto a band.
Thanks for the tip, I will keep an eye on that. This is a screenshot of the current stats

I believe the CQI is only displayed if the signal quality is above a certain level (SINR > -6?)
There are step changes in the number of payload bits per frame at each CQI value - and the modulation type changes between 6-7, and 9-10.
You should see much better throughput when it is 9 than when it is 7.
From your stats it does look like you have a rather weak signal, and the Band 20 you're connected to only has a 10MHz channel width (mine is 20MHz).
Your RSSI and RSRP values look OK (but not great), but your RSRQ is low - so there may be some interference . Direction may make a difference even if you move off the direct line to the mast if it happens to reduce the background noise.

If it is interference, why do I get decent upload rates (sometimes more than 3 times the download)? It seems all very strange to me
