Internet use training manual

Not aimed at any particular ISP but...Does your ISP warrant it's dial-up prices like this.....

Payment of the monthly subscription of £ 1.99 (inclusive of VAT) entitles you to access to the internet for one calendar month (irrespective of the length of that month).

followed by (and further down the contract).....

Payment of a further non-optional annual subscription of £60.00 (to be paid in monthly instalments of £5.00) entitles you to receive an annual internet use training manual which retails at £60.00. The service set out in clause blah de blah and this internet use training manual are interrelated aspects of your enter ISP name here Internet access package, they must be taken together and cannot be taken separatly ??

V21 and Fast4 spring to mind here and there may be others out there who advertise dial up packages on the same footing .

...Has ANYONE received a copy of said Internet Use training manual that they are entitled to receive?
Moreover, anyone seen one of the RETAIL copies of same, where can we buy one?
It would be interesting to find out if this publication actually exists or is a figment of the ISP's mind aimed at inflating the internet connection charge.

Lol, you could always attempt to reject it under the distance selling regulations and get a refund.

This may, or may not be the alleged booklet / manual http://portal.v21.co.uk/index.asp?exec=v21&v21=qbook

I never got one, although I think I may have cancelled before they took a years worth of contributions allegedly for it. Anyway, unless it comes on soft absorbant paper, preferably in scroll format, then I wouldn't be interested :smilet:

I believe a Training Manual also comes with some ADSL services, not just dial-up. See the T&Cs

"2.9 The Service must be taken in conjunction with the Training Manual"

You'll need the troubleshooting section as a V21 customer!! I wonder if it states the causes anywhere about slow connections? V21 "support" have a list as long as your arm to blame everything and anything other than V21's backbone.  Of cousre when you ditch that shower and go to a proper ISP your connection woes disappear(along with BS charges to your bank account)

If you have to wait a year while you're paying the installments before you receive the troubleshooting section, by then, I don't think it would be a lot of use to anybody (unless of course, it really does come on soft absorbant paper, in scroll format with perforated page breaks).

Has anyone tried to get a copy from the library, surely they have to have a copy - I wonder what the ISBN number is.
