IPS change, speed question.

Have a look at the sync speed at the end of the extension and the one in the master socket, it looks like that cable has degraded or theres some electrical interference been brought in some where. You will be best keeping the router at the master socket, using a filtered faceplate and running a long CAT5 cable instead.

AS to the speeds ignore that for now, get the sync speed up and the IP profile can be sorted by your ISP easy by asking for a CCSNR request I think it is, Im sure Martin can confirm that.

You could also wait 3-4 days and the IP profile should sort itself out but the CCSNR will also retain the line.

Very interesting, the noise margin keeps changing and the line sync also, but still only 4.5, mmmmmmmmmmm.

Do you have another router you could use/borrow???

Its not the router, the speed/throughput is controlled by the IP profile.

Think of the sync speed the size of the pipe and the IP profile a kind of flow restriction.

I had heard about running a Ethernet cable is better than running a phone extension before, but I ran with what I had, as you do. I'm happy to try it though, but will have to wait on an amazon delivery now. I read the faceplate means I can do away with micro filters on the other phone sockets, which will be handy too.

So, I'll wait for that to arrive and get it set up then post back. I'll contact the ISP regarding the CCSNR, pending Martins conformation, and get that ball rolling.

Fwiw I do have my old netgear knocking about.

Only get the rest done once you have made the changes otherwise you will be back at square one.

Once you have the router at the master with a filtered faceplate and the reset has been done I suspect you will get a 8128 sync with a IP profile of 7150. It should be more stable as well and noticeably more snappy.

Ah, right oh.. I'll be in touch..
Thanks to everyone for their input/help so far, much appreciated!

The key really is to demonstrate a line is stable, especially with 20CN. Try and keep your line connected WITHOUT a reboot for 72 hours. After this period, then call your service provider and ask for CCSNR reset, which should put your line back into training and reset IP profiles at the same time.

Ok..master socket filter plate fitted, router moved, network cable and hub fitted. I just did an ipad test and pulled 5.8mb, I know that's not super accurate. As it's the weekend, it's not hard to wait the 72 odd hours before I call for the reset.
This is how the router reads atm..

Looks like with all the disconnections recently the DLM has put you on a 9db target SNR, that will get reset though, for every 3db of SNR you lower the profile you get around 800k in speed so your well in line for the max 8128 rate.

What profile did the BT test say you had?

I haven't done the BT test since I moved it, but as I'm home for a couple days now I called the ISP and they are doing the reset..so let's see what happens.
I'll keep you posted, as you know it will probably take a few days to settle out. :smilet:
