Is 2GB Downloads Per Month enough?

I'm looking to change my broadband ISP in the coming weeks, and i've just taken a look at what others have to offer. I'm looking for something that won't cost above £20, and i see that alot of ISP's restrict the amount of content that's downloaded in one month. I do use my internet connection for personal use and work (i work from home), but the only web pages i use are for news, sport and ebay. I don't download very much music or video clips, however i do send and receive alot of e-mails. So i was just wondering if you think that i would be going over, say, 2GB of downloadable material per month? I use the internet about ten hours per day.

Maybe an ISP without a cap is better worth your while?

If all you do is odd surfing and emails you won't really need a superfast 2mg line....Eclipse have 512 unlimited download for about 18.99
If you don't do much in the way of big files you won't notice too much of a loss in time spent.

Eclipse are also an ISP with a good history. And they come highly rated (do a search)

Man, I should try getting an affiliate program!

i use eclipse flex 500 often get download speed around 640k

i download music and short videos and have no problems with the speed if i want i can flex up the speed to 1mb for 5p per hour or 2mb for 10p

would highly recommend it

it does what it says on the tin

most that cap have a minimum of 20Gb which is sufficient for normal use. if you use P2P, a Linux user, Gamer etc then you may come unstuck with these limits.

even just surfing the net can use alot of bandwidth whit these modern sites using loads of macromeda effects etc.

Do not know what Tesco or AOL are ike but for a general user there 512K packages should be OK.

I use Claranet on ther 512K connection package but it is prohibitaly expensive when you compare it to most of the other ISPs.

A 2Gb cap sounds a bit rubbish to me - I don't see the point in getting a fast (2mb) connection, then not being able to make real use of that speed!

I can only agree with the others on this thread - for browsing and all but the largest email attachments there is little or no difference between 512k and a 2mb line - only when you start downloading files does the speed difference show.

So unless you regularly send and recieve lots of large email attachments (in which case maybe 2Gb really isn't enough anyway), 512k is fast enough, and for your price you can get unlimited downloads at that speed.

I am also with Eclipse, and am very happy with them.
