Is a 5G router worth the extra expense?

Hi there,

I've done some searching, but was hoping someone might be able to give me some specific advice.

We're moving to the E17 3JW postcode. On Cellmapper it looks like Vodafone (or Lebara etc.) will probably be our best bet. The Vodafone website also indicates good 5G coverage for the area.

Is it likely to be worth spending £200 extra for a 5G router (CPE Pro 2) instead of just 4G (B818)?

Thanks!

@Involver that's one heck of a location, 5G from all operators!
I'd say go for it!

Don't commit to contracts before testing all of them with payg sims.

Oh I can recommend Smarty if you want to test three.

I wouldn't dream of posting my referral link so we both get a free month of course.

See I'm being good folks. 😇

You should post it, why not.

But.. Smarty's 5G is hit and miss, not working in my area for example, despite Three's itself being ok.

I'm really loving my unlimited Smarty Lucian, going to transfer my mobile over next month too.

Pop it into a group and save another 10%

Not that I'm a cheapskate of course, but why not?

If anyone wants a free month for trying Smarty, sign up with the link below.

Smarty

I'll hopefully not get my bottom smacked, because Lucian said it was OK to do it. ☺️

Anyway I hope Smarty has proper working 5G when my three pole of wonder is completed, whenever that may be. 🤞

What could be causing 5G not to work when 3 does do you think Lucian?

How would Smart enable or disable it?

I know my names not Lucian but my view of it is the APN. I think if you used one of the two 3 APNs you would be able to connect. 🙂

Might be worth a try Lucian.
