'Is Sally there?'

Dont be suprised if you get a withheld number on your phone calling you asking if Sally is there.

In the office today, there has been 4 people (including me) that has got a call asking if Sally is there.

As this is on vastly different numbers, on 3 different networks so far, I can only assume its a mobile phone spam thing.

Basically, someone has got a list of phone numbers from a dodgy source, and is going about varifying them by ringing them up. Thats my best guess.

BUT, they might not be asking for Sally anymore. As I was the 4th call, I didnt do the usual 'No shes not', instead I did a very loud and mad sounding 'Why yes she is! Hold on!'.

Sadly, they hung up quickly.

As I have had this number on the TPS for many years, they are breaking the law, and I wouldnt be suprised if people get companies calling them up for various things (mobile phone contracts, amazing offers, you won a prize, etc).

lve had a few weird phone calls as well today, as soon as we pick up the phone goes dead.. its a yorkshire number and l honestly dont know anyone up that way and if it was a wrong number why did they put the phone down on us around 3 times...

My has a few weird phone calls a few weeks ago claiming to be lloyds tsb the phone no x2 was from Ireland, she rang up our branch & gave them the phone numbers. we also have a some on our mobiles as well? there seems to a lot of it going on out there with this spam. like you old dude I too have been with tps for sometime now.

me too.. had some guy asking for us to take a survey a while back other than the weird calls earlier just told me they were breaking the rules as we wre regged to the TPS and never signed up to such crap, whether he understood or not is another thing since the only words l understood were my surname and take survey the rest sounded like he was from an indian call centre where they only taught english 101 of the ultimate noob

As I recall surveys are not covered by the TPS  which is why they start their sales patter with a survey question

Best way to deal with sales calls is to wind them up. One method that apparently works well on indian call centres is to use a very heavy regional accent and seem interested. If you are lucky they'll pass the call on to a supervisor who is more fluent in English.

I haven't tried anything like this though :-
