As regular forum members know I've been seeing what happens if I reached the Smarty FUP of 1TB.

You previously were capped at this limit and all data stopped until you purchased a data add on or reached your next refresh date.

The exciting news so far is that I have went over by quite a margin and never received any text that I was approachin their FUP limit of 1TB. My speeds haven't been throttled either.

I have had a look on the Smarty website and I can no longer find anthing mentioning their FUP limit of 1TB, maybe someone can check as I have maybe just missed it. It definately used to be there, because I've read it myself.

Anyway just thought I'd add a seperate thread in case any new visitors were wondering about Smarty's FUP limit.

It sounds very promising folks, but I will post again if anything changes and what data I've used at the end of the month.

A very happy bear for his £16 and no contract.(y)

Now three, where's my pole of wonder? 😊

That’s great, I hate having contracts under my name due to credit scores etc. I’ve never missed a payment but I just in general don’t like them. I also saw on smarty’s web page a section saying “truly unlimited 4G”. So maybe they’ve changed it, see if you get cut off when it renews.

I definately remember reading that they said when approaching your data limit they would send a text.

No text has arrived so far, so I think it's looking good. 😊

That’s great. I just wish that smarty would hurry up and start supporting xiaomi phones on volte and vowifi. It can’t be that hard as three does already. That’s the only thing putting me off joining them.

Oh I've got a Xiaomi Mi10T Lite 5G, not tried the sim in the phone yet, I do have a vowifi and volte setting though.

A few GB over the limit might not be enough to trigger anything yet, wonder if you're gonna get a telling off once you're 2-300+ over.

Yeah, i don't even get the option. So far it works on all the main networks bar O2, it works best with Vodafone and is really flakey with EE. I get the option on my 3 SIM but not the option to choose the preferred (Mobile network or WiFi) whereas I get this choice on all the others.

I've done 1.2tb on 2 separate months with Smarty and never got slowed down or got a message. All mention of fair usage was removed from their t&c's a while back. Customer services will tell you that there's a 1tb limit but to be honest they'll just copy/paste or tell you anything. I don't believe there is a limit anymore.

Maybe Lucian, well I'll just carry on as usual, got 11 days left to go, so should be up a wee bit more by then if they don't dump me.😊

Their website now says under unlimited:

Is it really unlimited?

Yep. It’s truly unlimited data.
Because that’s simple, and honest.
No restrictions. No speed caps.
Can't get any better than that then oriodec.
That certainly wasn't there when I joined at the beginning of the month.

Here's my referral link just one more time if anyone wants to try Smarty and get a free month.

Smarty

I promise I wont post it ever again, because I will probably be banished from the forums forever. :(

Just a wee update with a week left to go folks.

I think it's safe to say Smarty have abandoned their FUP of 1TB.

Happy days! 🥳

Very good that they have abandoned the FUP, it is not hard to hit 1TB these days, last month i used 2.2TB on Three and not a peep from them!
No you're right Zathan, especialy with 4K streaming even on YouTube now and the monster console game downloads and updates, 2TB isn't at all hard to reach over a month.

Given 5G speeds FUP seems no more on Three, given 4G tech limitations it was needed before the Mimo QAM etc roll out in areas. Assume Three as a priority put Ericsson in their with such, easily later upgraded to Ericsson 5G.

I quite like honestmobile, 5G coming, 650GB on 4G then unlimited 3G (assume full speed not 384Kbps!), £25 30 days, eco/carbon friendly, and discounts the longer you stay upto 30%. Will keep a eye open for 5G.

So who else is selling Three? The Three/Smarty saturation is high here so smarty performs worse as a payg product (you can’t get 4G Hub because of it).

I’m currently on Voda’s Lebara 5G 200Mbps (cap) for £12.50, however I need a Three provider for my dual 5G handset.

I had to redownload quite a few games due to a harddrive failure, some are over 80GB each, and i have an unhealthy Youtube addiction 😅

Yes far too much YouTube on here as well.

I used to moan when I had a 'huge' Xbox Live Arcade game that was 700MB. ☺️

As you say, some of the updates now are 30-50GB+ a pop.
