Yes far too much YouTube on here as well.

I used to moan when I had a 'huge' Xbox Live Arcade game that was 700MB. ☺️

As you say, some of the updates now are 30-50GB+ a pop.
It's the windows ISO downloads for me. They much through it like nothing on this planet 😂

Mobilefreak has posted 2 threads over on the voxi reddit section in the last day, boasting about breaking roaming fup, he has not gone...
He'll get discovered by our friends over at Vodafone in time......

Please may I have the link to his thread, that would be very helpful 😁

Just a final confirmation that Smartly are no longer bothering about their old FUP of 1TB folks.

As I said earlier I'd post my usage at the end of the month, and as my tarrif resets tomorrow, here we are.

Just as a reminder the free £15 credit on top of your free month offer expires on the 31st, so if you're wanting to give Smarty a try, maybe now's the time to do so.

For anyone who may not know, Smarty use the three network if you haven't tried them in a while..

So here's my last blatant post of my referral link for your free month.

Blatant Smarty Referral Link

That's about it I think folks. 😊

That’s amazing. Quick question for you. Are you utilising mobile broadband because your area is not served by fibre broadband or is broadband for the house really slow! Or is it just a personal decision to stick with mobile broadband?

No I have fibre available and had it for many years Nomader.

My fibre speeds were around the 50 mark which was fine.

One day I thought I'd just try 4G to see what speeds I woulld get.

To my surprise I got 90-130 with three, all the other networks were pants, so as soon as my fibre contract was up, I got the first of about 6 Huawei routers.(So far)

CPE Pro 3 next? :LOL::rolleyes:

Being a cheapskate, I was delighted, getting speeds of nearly double my fibre for a lot cheaper.

Unfortunately for me, three got slower and slower and I ended up with speeds of around 10-15 after around 18 months of my 2 year contract.

Due to over subscription I assumed.

I decided to cancel three and tried Vodafone, which was a little faster.

After a little while I thought I'd try three again via Smarty and speeds had improved a little to 30, so here I am, and quite happy with 30 as my 4K streaming works again.

Don't think I'll ever enter into a lengthy contract again as I always buy my mobile outright anyway and it always annoyed me the anual increase in price you get, so what's the point of a 12 or 18 months sim only contract?

So far I'm absolutely delighted with Smarty and intend to stay with it because as you know I'm getting a new three pole of wonder coming up soon, so hopefully that will improve things for me even more.🤞

I'm moving my mobile contract over to Smarty too on Wednesday, so that will be handy.

Dear me what a long rant, sorry about that Nomader, but you did ask. 😊

How is Smarty compared to Three regarding speeds nowadays?
My Three contract is up for renewal on 12th September so it might be worth jumping early to get the £15.

The big gotcha is Smarty is not officially 5G enabled, so while un some areas they have 5G, in others they do not, despite there being a 5G Three signal.

Going by some of the previous testing it seems to be just the same as three eccles.

As Lucian said, some users have managed to get 5G just fine, others not yet.

They haven't announced 5G officially yet, but just say it's coming soon.

I've got a 5g reception hole currently, thinking about getting 5g capable phone but the B818 is giving me at least 40mb/s when it's busy and usually around 100mb/s, higher on weekdays so there's not much incentive to push for 5g.
I'll take up your offer TWB. :)

Oh goody, I'm all excited now. Thank you eccles. (y) ☺️

PS Don't forget to try their app, it's really very good.

thanks for the above. It was really useful to know. I have had FTTC for quite sometime now downloads speeds 50 mark too and uploads about 12. However I just can’t be bothered waiting till like 2026 when ultra fibre will be finally available in my area. So I thought forget that and just go for mobile broadband instead when the new pole of wonder as you call it is installed in my area too. Or maybe I can catch a good signal from the other pole of wonder about 5-10 min drive from my house.

I am out of contract anyway for my broadband and yeah those pesky price increases each year is no good so be good to get away from that.

However if I cannot get my parents to get rid of the landline as they still like to keep it for 2 people who only really bother calling on landlines, then I will still have a basic 11 download internet for the house. The cheapest I can see who can provide that is about £12 a month from Shell Broadband. In a way I guess it’s a backup broadband.
