Is this true?

Hey everyone

Ok broadband is going to be activated on 13th of July, so i order Flex with Eclipse because at first the BT checker said that i could possibly get a 1MB line, so i thought Flex would be ideal. So i ordered it and then checked the BT checker a few days later and guess what, it now says that i should be able to have a 512k line. So i phoned BT on Sunday to ask a couple of questions, and the guy on the pone said that i should get my order in quick because he thinks the up take on my exchange will be high, but before our Trigger level was 350 but it stayed inbetween 150-200 for months and months, he siad the reason to get the order in, is because all the slots will be gone and he thinks there will be about 200,and then they will have to build a new frame in the exchange and this can take them a couple of months, now is this true, or is he just trying to scare me into getting my order in?.

i have actually heard something like this before - there not being enough room at the current exchange

Full exchanges can occur, although I'm uncertain as to the specific process that takes place regarding their capacity improvements during such a period.

I would imagine that they could stop further orders, although the time it takes is more likely to depend on how quickly they can dedicate to getting it fixed vs the actual physical time taken to improve said situation.

Some have succedded this way what is up why do you wan t to release your ADSL connection. If you release it this way you have to pay activation again or sign for a year with free activation.

Which ISP are you wanting to move from?

tiscali.............. As you know they dont give out mac codes..

So I must wait 30days then another 10-15days for them to release the phone line.

I have read many stories about them not releasing the line

Can only wish you good luck and say be patient and choose your next ISP carefully

Tiscali and not offering MAC (migration code)

Maybe it is time ISPreview did an(other?) interview with them and put it quite bluntly 'When will migration be made easier for customers ?"

I'd like to see a big warning on any mention of Tiscali (not just on ISPr), regarding their unhelpful position on this aspect. It doesn't affect me, but someone will be seeing their 'low cost' adverts and later want to move but be stuck with having to cease...

In one of the newsgroups, there's a post mentioning a website by someone trying to get them to offer MAC for those wanting to move on... (not my site)

Why would getting your order in now make a difference? Do isps forward the request when you order? If thats the case then surely ordering earlier would mean u get your connection faster?
