Is Three Network truly unlimited compred to other networks

On Three getting a consistent 50mb down 20mb up, its a Three/EE shared mast and if its down I get an SMS from EE with updates. All depends on where you live and the mast you connect to.

I thought there was an EU directive which would specifically prevent that wording..?

Not all EU directives were made into law in the UK but it's a bit of a minefield trying to decipher which ones are and which aren't. Many member states were fined for not implementing those directives. Directives aren't laws, they have to be translated into a law by the member state.

From my limited, non legal understanding of the matter, both Ofcom and the ASA made "recommendations" about claims of unlimited that include FUPs. There might also be a law? but I haven't been able to find it. However, the regulator and the ASA can order them to stop advertising things as "unlimited" when they really include a limit. A FUP IS a limit as far as most people are concerned

This document is somewhat revealing

Please note it's dated 2011. If someone knows of a newer one please let me know. The relevant section is in page 4 which states that they are allowed to use FUPs as long as it only affects "atypical" users.

But it is most certainly within their power to stop them advertising it as unlimited. They often try to bury it within pages of legal text / terms and conditions too so it's not exactly made prominent when advertising "unlimited". But it seems nobody is willing to stop them doing it.

A fair usage policy of 600GB is clearly a limited data plan with a limit of 600GB imo.

If they want to offer unlimited, unless someone is causing detriment to other users I don't think there should be a limit. If they don't want users using more than 600Gb why don't they just market a 600GB plan.

Thankfully I've never had any issue with FUPs but they really grind on me.

What do you mean 12 tethering devices? What happens if I put a EE Business Plan sim in a huawei 5G CPE router? would every device connected to it count as tethering?
I asked about the tethering limit before I took out an unlimited business SIM to replace my office broadband - I was told that it originated from the devices that were sold with the mobile broadband, which could only cope with 12 connections. So it is there to limit expectations rather than something that is actively enforced.
I always have >12 devices connected (sometimes >100), although most don't generate much traffic, and never had a problem.

It's even less than that if you take advantage of Quidco as well, £18pm, less £144 cash back via redemption, and £25 from Quidco, works out at £47 total or £3.92 per month!!!

I took advantage for two separate SIMs under different names/accounts as you cannot beat that, especially as it includes 5G.
