Is VM changing their Cabinets?

Looking on BIDB (which is great) I noticed VM are scheduled to install cabinets across a wide area of my town that has VM already. Just wondered if anyone had seen that they had new ones or if it could be in preparation for going from HFC to FTTP (hopeful thinking I would guess).

Even if it is FTTP there doesn't seem to be plans to move beyond RFoG for a while yet, so it probably won't make much difference unless the area is very congested (I'd imagine it's easier to do a node split, on a new network than legacy)

It's almost certain to be the XGS-PON / FTTP upgrade. We're seeing this all over the UK now.

Here is the new cabinet installed, internet/phone has been off twice since they installed it (think they cut through something they shouldn't the first time) which isn't great but it seems to be ok now.

Is it a VMSD1 / VMSD1i ? as shown here: https://www.ispreview.co.uk/index.p...edias-uk-broadband-street-furniture-2019.html

Do we know what they will do next with them? Is it fibring up to each property?

They do the same in St Neots, they even build a whole new network from scratch in Loves Farm in St Neots but it is RFoG - complete nonsense, because both OR and Netomnia are in town with FTTP.

They seem to be doing this in Bedford too now. I wonder if it means interruption or if they have some magic method of keeping the network up or not. Their green cabinet is literally in my next door neighbours front garden so this should be easy to watch.

When they fitted the one near me they did have to cut the connection as part of the install and it took them a while. I think they cut something when they shouldn't have so they had to bodge it then come back and turn it off again to fix it properly.
