I've recently had fixed wireless broadband installed where the ISP installed a dish on a long pole attached to the chimney of my house. It is about 2metres higher than the chimney - apparently this was necessary to receive a sufficient signal level. I've since found out that this might contravene planning laws and that the dish should not be greater than 60cm above the height of the chimney. I would imagine that if the height was reduced to comply with regulations, then the ISP might not be able to guarantee their quoted performance. Has anyone else had a similar experience and if so, do you have any advice for how to deal with the problem?
