Isp router testing for uk business

Hi,

Apologies if this has been posted in the wrong forum, this is my first post.

Please can anybody advise on the following query...

I work for a UK tech based company and we are launching a number of wifi connected products to the consumer. We need to ensure that our products are compliant and fully functional against all current major ISP routers available Ie BT, Virgin etc.

Previously we had some of the above service providers introduce lines to our premises, but this seemed convoluted and a pretty expensive way of going about things. Furthermore ISP's such as SKY and some others don't actually provide to business directly.

Ideally what we are after is a solution that allows us to either walk in to a ISP testing facility to ensure compliance of our product against the latest router releases.

Does anyone know of such a service, or are we faced with having to literally install each ISP product directly to our current premises?

Thanks in advance.

J

On the surface it sounds like you're only interested in the WiFi side, which would mean that you can still use the ISP's router without having to connect to their broadband service. But that might only cover part of the issue.

However it may also be the case that you need to make sure that none of the network / traffic management settings at the ISP itself (e.g. CGNAT) cause problems for your service. I'm reminded of how early releases of the Amazon Echo ran into problems with BT's broadband service. In that instance the only way to test would be to use both the ISPs router and its broadband line.

I'm not aware of any ISPs having testing facilities for third-party WiFi devices but that doesn't mean to say they don't exist.

You could of course ask people that you/your staff know to help you test the hardware as it should be fairly easy to find customers of the largest 4-6 ISPs.

Thanks for your reply Mark,

Interestingly enough we have adopted a similar testing process for now with regards to staff taking products home with them as you'd suggested. It's just frustrating because we often need members of the technical development team to be there in the moment, to witness faults as they occur and not have this relayed back the following morning as we're usually testing out of hours.

Best wishes,

You mention that buying lines from each of the providers seems an expensive way of doing things.. I'd posture that a testing facility or company is likely to cost even more.
