ISPReview advertising

I assume ISPReview has no control over advertising presented on it's site and scam adverts are not exactly unique to ISPReview, but is it something that should be looked into with a view to barring obvious scams?

We can't stop them before they appear (that's down to Google), but I can ban related ad creation networks once identified. I find myself banning something like that every 4-5 weeks, but it's a tedious process to find them (helps to have the URL from the ad being shown).

However, when you see ads like that, you can also report them directly to Google by clicking the little sideways blue arrow |> at the top right. I think the X also works, although that's more intended to stop showing the ad to yourself.

Precisely why I use an adblocker. It's a totally different Web without one.. sorry to say.

The downside of ad blockers is that more sites are putting up paywalls to their content and those that don't or can't need to add more ads to compensate, which creates somewhat of a vicious circle.

Yeah, it is a vicious circle of sorts.
I don't mind the ads per se, but I do loathe the tracking, the malware and so on.
I'd be perfectly happy with old school type of ads, such as the one you have now in the Promotion box currently for Plusnet.

Not sure if I follow the GDPR bit, since that actually tried to clamp down on cookies and the privacy issues. Sadly, it did create a mess of cookie pop-up spam (nobody ever liked pop-ups), but those aren't "adverts".

I run pi-hole on my home network with DoH (Cloudflare), plus Adblock on my phone and Mac, so I never see any adverts at all.
