Any advice / information on the following dilemma?
I’m moving to a house that is approx. 100 metres from the cabinet, which in turn is 100 metres from the exchange. Within a 1km radius, there are several other cabinets linked into the same exchange but much further away. All cabinets are connected to their properties by overhead copper in a star system.
However, every single cabinet offers VDSL between 65/9 - 78/19 downstream/upstream, except the one I will be connected to - which at best is 26/3
I understand the routing of the overhead cables could go around the block a few times, thus making the distance to the cabinet much, much longer than 100 metres. However, the same is true for the other cabinets, yet the slowest I can find on any one of these cabinets is 65/9.
I appreciate mine could be a noisy cabinet, or there are other issues that don’t affect the others. Is there anyone I can contact within Openreach to find out why there is such a discrepancy. Alternatively, would this be addressed within the next 3-5 years with any planned infrastructure changes?
I'm unsure if 3 upstream is good enough for video calls for two people working at home.
