Issues connecting old Google Nest to new CF wifi

Hi guys,

Newbie here and not toooooo tech savvy when it comes to wifi and networking.
Apologies if this has been answered elsewhere, but has anyone had connection issues with Google Nest device talking to the iOS app after setting it up on a new wifi?
We just got Community Fibre. Everything is working fine except our Google Nest refuses to play nice after it's initial setup, even after factory reset. It gets to the permissions / local network sharing bit and refuses to acknowledge that I've given it permission to share...

Any ideas?

Thanks
Joe

Which Google Nest device is it out of interest? Not really clear which one it is.

I have personally had issues time to time with my Nest Mini on WiFi but a reboot usually solves it (using VMs network)

Hi Joe

After almost 6 months of my Nest thermostat and Nest Hello doorbell not connecting to my Google Nest or Home apps I have finally cracked the code!

I’m in the UK using a full fibre Community Fibre 3GBps connection. On a desperate hunch, I turned off IPv6 in the admin settings of my Technicolor router and both devices reconnected instantly, I can’t believe it was so simple. No amount of splitting WiFi bands, long phone calls with Community Fibre, or poring through Google forums, or following Google reset instructions on repeat cracked this.

Sharing so you don’t have to go through this headache just to have a working doorbell or thermostat!

PS. CF tech support seemed absolutely clueless, though nice, and just wanted to blame Google, or split my WiFi bands. Which was not the solution.

Rad! Thanks Ryan, I'll give this a go when I get home. Cheers for the update.

Seen many of these issues before and have reported this in other threads for the IPv6 fanatics to insult me and say I know nothing, IPv6 "works fine for me", you must be doing something wrong, etc. Rest assured you are not the only one seeing these issues with IPv6 and you can live your life happy without IPv6 as most implementations are buggy as hell. From my point of view IPv6 is not ready for prime time in the home and while it may be carrying 50% of the traffic on the web it's clear in the home it's worth the trouble.
