It's 5G Home Broadband time again....

So, my Virgin contract is up for renewal again, and in case I have to leave them, I'm looking back into a permanent 5G broadband solution. I'm currently paying £22 for M250, and they were wanting to put it up to £30 in my renewal offer.

From my previous escapades I have an NR5103E just sitting at the bottom of my bed, so it'd just be a sim I'd look for.

My options for 5G are either Three or Vodafone, both of which offer similar 5G speeds at my house, mainly due to the Vodafone mast being much closer.

Are there any good offers at the minute on either network?

Hi yolosnail,
You can get unlimited Smarty for £16 via Uswitch if you don't want a contract, or £15 on ID Mobile, via Uswitch too.

Just looking at other options via Uswitch and noticed Talkmobile also do unlimited for £16 on Vodafone.

Are they any good these days?

I think they are the nearest Vodafone duplicate as far as I know yolosnail, check out Bubbles's excellent network feature spreadsheet for all the comparisons if you haven't already, it's a great help. :)

Interesting! Wasn't aware of the sheet.

It seems Lebara might be a good option to check out if it's viable?

My VOXI sim that somehow got borked into a free unlimited Vodafone eSIM is still running, and get decent speeds. But I'm worried that transferring it back to a proper sim might unbork it and it's quite handy having it!

Yes I'm using a Lebara SIM in one of my routers, it's not unlimited as it's just used for testing, but I've never had any problems with them.

I recommended a Three 12 month contract with unlimited data deal to my daughter who has been using that for the last four months on my spare 4G router. All good. £11.59/month after £65 automatic cashback.

I will probably end up going down the Three route as they were fine last time I tried, but I have a new Vodafone 5G mast literally down the end of the street so I want to give them a try first!

Three business have £10 unlimuted data. Not as good as £6 but still very good.

I think for the sake of £30, or saving £15-20 a month max I'd just carry on with wired. Even 5G isn't all that cracked up to be - especially if you're faffing around with SIMs that aren't really intended for home broadband use.

Especially if you are in any way a serious user.

FWIW I've just re-contracted with Virgin M350 for £24 a month (only took 2 hours, maybe I could have got a better deal if I tried harder but I can't be arsed)

Will still be faffing about for fun though!

Scancom Unlimited Three sim until December 2025 £169 works out at £8 a month
here

Yes, I mentioned Scancom to her but she thought Three might be better at dealing with consumer-level problems. Ho hum, perhaps she's right.

Thanks for the link, I do have to ask though as that spreadsheet says Lyca don't support Band 20 but this review in the link says otherwise. So who's right?

Some users do get it, others can't hle13, not sure why the difference. 🤷‍♂️
I couldn't when I was with Lyca.
