It's official - BTW are providing MACs

BT Wholesale have officially announced that they will provide MACs directly to the 6500 or so Biscit customers who were connected directly via BTW and not via another wholesaler (those customers need to speak to the Adminstrator or the relevant wholesale supplier).

BT will be creating a "walled garden" showing a web page with the number for a special department they have established to handle this.

I've already had a few new customers who managed to obtain their MAC from BT in this way on 0800 169 0934 - although this may be the wrong number the team there are helping everyone they can.

I think we can all agree this is a very good result and congratulate BTW on their move.

Message on Ofcom still has no news. It seems we know before they do.

Ofcom are always last to know. I think BT have been working behind the scenes to try and sort out what they can.

Up until yesterday BTW were officially not giving out MACs however some of their personnel were aware that OFCOM was in the processing of authorising/instructing BTW to do so and so did give out MACs as far as I can tell.

Today BTW made the announcement after they received that instruction or authorisation from OFCOM.

To be fair to the OFCOM did act on this and it wasn't until yesterday that it became clear that the Administrator have been very remis in meeting their legal duties towards Biscit customers.
