I've passed my 2 year anniversary for FTTPoD order

I paid for the connection on 20th November 2020.

ONT was finally installed on 9th November 2022, however, there is a system fault preventing activation, all three lights are solid green and OR have informed me the order is complete.

Cerberus can't do anything until the fault is rectified and have told me it's "OR/BT", I've rung BT myself, they say it would be OR, OR say it's all working as far as they are concerned.

I would pull my hair out, but I haven't got much left.

Anyone got any insight about who would be responsible?

Why aren't Cerberus chasing OR? You're paying them for connectivity?

If the lights are all green - then unlikely (but not impossible) to be a "physical" issue.

So I would err more to the BT Wholesale side as they provide the exchange backhaul for Cerberus nationally.

Saying that however you have absolutely zero direct contractual relationship with BTW (they are strictly as the name suggests wholesale in nature and B-2-B) - therefore all you can do is shake the tree with Cerberus.

Have you spoken with the director at Cerberus? Its Bob Hendy and he is very approachable and helpful, at least in all my dealings with him

Ah, that helps me to understand where BT fit in. I have previously contacted Bob Hendy so I shall try him again if the connection isn’t live by Friday.

Thank you

Bob is quite happy to get directly involved where he needs to, so by all means get in touch with him asap.

Good news, connection went live today.. just need to check why I'm only getting approx 235Mbps download speeds (using Cat6) instead of closer to 300.
Test directly into the ONT (bypass the router). You will need to activate and configure a PPPoE client on the machine connected directly (using the PPPoE login credentials from Cerberus).

Cat5e or Cat6 (or 6a) cable has no bearing (at these data rates).

I did try doing that, but I couldn’t get my MacBook to make a connection.

Cerberus tech support sent me a different link to test the speed (via btwholesale), that provided more reasonable speeds between 239 and 280.

If the speed keeps fluctuating, I will go and plug into the ONT and give it another go.

It’s actually pretty simple to setup a PPPoE on a MacBook and worth doing and having there for diagnostics.

At 300/50 you ought to be able to easily and consistently max the connection to any UK speedtest server at any time of day or night.

Right, just connected to the ONT, 307 down, 29 up (my service is 300/30). I shall run the test a couple of times today, but all seems good so far.
