Joined Lyca via eSIM … got EE?

I know Lyca now use EE but this is a little strange, or is this how it works?

I was on BT Mobile Business for a number I’ve had for over a decade but don’t use much more these days (it’s on as an eSIM alongside my main number on my iPhone). My 24 month contract has ended and I knew BT were going to force people over to EE on a new contract. I’m on O2 for my main number and like to have the other line on another network should it ever be useful in an O2 dead zone, so I thought I’d keep the BT number on EE via Lyca on a cheap rolling 30 day SIM only plan.

I joined Lyca via an eSIM that I could setup via email almost instantly. It is working as expected and is showing approx. 150mb download in my location, the same as the BT SIM did.

The odd thing is.. it is listed on the phone as ‘EE’ for the network and has done for over a week now. I ported my existing number over which was done in less than a day. I spoke to BT to see if I needed to give them 30 days notice, and the CS agent said he can see the number has been transferred to EE.

I am on Lyca as I get their voicemail and customer services number; I don’t have Visual Voicemail setup for this line but it even lists EE Voicemail as a call button at the top of my O2 Visual Voicemail list which doesn’t work when pressed.

The only issue is WiFi Calling doesn’t work.

I take it my network should show as ‘Lycamobile’? Anyone having the same?

Only time I’ve ever seen this was on a Lyca O2 eSIM which was then ported over to EE. Network always remained as “EE (roaming)”

This is a thing that might be related to carrier profiles, a few people have reported seeing EE instead of Lycamobile.

WiFi Calling isn't available on Lyca (yet).

It is pretty common to see this when using MVNOs who use the services of another network.

My ASDA mobile SIM displays correctly on an iPhone while using the mobile network, but on wifi calling it switches to Vodafone WifiCall.

My 1p mobile SIM, in an Android phone, says 1p - EE on mobile and EE WiFi Calling when on wifi
