Just Switched to XILO from BT

Just switched from BT to Xilo.

Cost around £100 to set-up and switch, BUT, i should save that over the course of the contract.

I have opted for the cheapest pre-configured router, which is probably better than my old bt relic. Would appreciate feedback on router (total noob with that stuff, thanks in advance for info).

On paper this seems an excellent deal, and reviews in general support these guys. Also they r very active on these forums, which speaks volumes to the small guy.

For the record i could rarely get DL speeds above 3meg and UL speeds of 0.stupid, with BT, so lets see how it goes.

Praise to this site also, without it i would have been ground into big company meat grinder of mediocraty.

Also, these guys sound like they spend their lunch money in small local british businesses, If anyone can supply photos of Xilo staff eating at Makkie d's, i will cancel. hehe

Of the big brands, if u like that kind of thing, BE seemed ok on the face of it. I have o2 mobile phone on a good deal, so i thought i would give them a chance. I rang BE, on 080 number (i think) and was greeted with very nice Asalamalenkom (please forgive my disgracful arabic). Nothing against my muslim cousins and the Prophet, peace be upon him. But, when i call a sales line, NO.

That would be good Mark. TBB used to have reviews but now they are very few and far between - especially considering the Billion 7800N and Technicolor TG582n which are dual mode for DSL and will act as a router for the FTTC active modem are very popular and reliable devices at present.

@lostincyberspce - came here looking for a reply as per your post on our forum but can't see anything.

Always best to just post here instead of cross forums to avoid any confusion.

Xilo/Uno are a great ISP to be with, I have LLU through them and the service is awesome.

Thanks guys, and sorry Matt i am just finding my feet, i will tidy up posts eventually. I couldnt log in down to the fact, that i am a noob.

I will write a full review, on correct page as i go also.

Brilliant little community, shame more people dont know. I am telling my whole street, many of whom r expressing the same feelings as me. It seems your average Joe never speedtests, so they sat there thinking they r at a high speed and they aint.

Also, you guys have looked into government funding sources? This website could really help government reach its broadband nation targets (can't recall the policy, sorry). Also, people like Matt should be funded to spearhead it.

thanks for help guys, this is just exceptional service compared with BT(i am ok to mention the isp by name)

One problem with Testfreaks is that it mixes routers for different countries so you don't want to end up buying something based on a good review that won't work with UK ISPs. ADSL implementations do differ.
