Hmm, wrong side of bed maybe?
Seriously though, how could you tell the terrorists from the people who just want to get on with their lives?
I can however sympathise with you on the police matter.
Anyway, the way to sort pipex out is to first cancel them. This wont be done by ranting, first make effort to cancel (sound like you already have done), make sure your ringing all the correct numbers etc. Note it all down, then go to your credit card company. Tell them all the effort you have put in to cancel, and that you have gone through all the correct channels but no joy. They should stop payment.
And when pipex come knocking for money, you can tell them you made every effort to do so, and they have inadaqute systems in place to cancel.
After that, if anyone you know is looking for an ISP, tell them your expirence of them. Poeple dont usually listen to the rantings and ravings, but do take notice of reasoned well explained accounts.
Your first point..........terrorists........... you can't so why take chances? the bad ones have spoiled it for the innocent ones, the only way is deal with them all as terrorists.
The Police have finally shed their once immense public confidence and respect and now really aren't much more than a traffic fine collection body and traffic surveilance operators.
Probably exist more to aid criminals and criminality than prevent it. Public service is less than zero...........my instance of the ambulance having to have the Police present to break in is one such point.....that lady probably would have died if we'd waited for the Police. She's still in hospital now recovering. Makes you wonder why too the Police couldn't respond to that particular 999 call that evening. The positive fact learned from this was when I said about fire brigade they quickly changed their tune and sent out the ambulance.
The thing about cancelling Pipex is that if I do it by simply canceling which you can relatively easily on the website ...........I'll have the new connection charge of some £60 plus however with the MAC number this is about £18 or less .........so if I can avoid that then that's the best option. Of course you're right about the ranting but I suppose it does give you all here entertaining reading..........and let's be fair it shows a problem with a previously respected ISP Pipex showing that they're are using mafia type methods that Tiscali and BT already do as standard ............be wary if you're thinking of going to them.............get your MAC number now so you can use in the future.
Remember it's BT hiking up the cost broadband to the highest they can get away with, these other companies are dictated to by the pied piper of telephone confidence tricksters..........
in Holland a 2 megabit adsl connection is only 15 Euros a month.......... Why is it so dear here?
Sweden someone told me was even less for a 10 megabit service. Although that is pure hearsay as far as I know ..........someone here might know differently.
Also BT are the architects of this MAC number nonsense ...........yes it is easy to confuse with the Big Mac or apple Mac isn't it?!
No coincidence I reckon but a deliberate strategy to confuse less computer savvy customers.
I will set the bank to take direct debits instead of the credit card company and cancel with them before next payments due. Pipex can go to hell for future payments. If they fail to deliver the MAC number I'll have to give phone line too I reckon as the rental is way beyond its just level........... a mobile for calls is all I need and the broadband can be done through the wireless adsl router modem shared with my neighbour.
Finally the Pipex ISP ............yes I will describe experiences, time the various calls and the describe the various they try and put you off leaving. Also some unusual tricks for getting through to them free or low cost for others to follow at a later date. And also the credit card to bank technique ........ie. how successful or useful that is ............cant say too much as knowing Pipex they'll withdraw the bank dd option.
My daily emails to Pipex remain unanswered and today is the 10 day or so of sending them out requesting the MAC number.
see the original message below which I repeated with additions several times a day since and still no reply .......... apart the computer response which tells you they'll reply within two working days.
