Hi I have just moved and my main bt sockets on the other side of the room from TV, my options are get the socket moved or have the router by the main socket or over by the TV and get either a longer Lan or dsl cable, would the longer cable interfere with Internet quality? Internet being switched on 20th tia

Hi,

Ethernet is very forgiving, you won't see any losses on such short spans, you'd usually need to introduce a switch after 50m or 100m depending on cable, clearly not your case. Just get a good quality cat6 cable and you're good.

I have a 10m cable from my BT box to my router and do not see any performance issues because of that. Rest of house is cat6 from router via a couple of switches.
