Soooo, I'm currently at a premier inn and they claim to have free WiFi capable of streaming UHD. I think not, Kcom :). Im so glad I brought my 4GEE with me (no it's not on EE, it's on 3)

@Bubblesthefish6 I also took my Smarty sim with me in the Cotswolds, along with the B535.
Speeds nothing special, but better than Vodafone/Lebara surprisingly and could stream the football final on.

As much as I hate Kcom for their predatory pricing, it's not Kcom that's slow. It'll be their network configuration.

Kcom operate a very fast, reliable, yet overpriced network.

I do notice that they have "WiFi Ultimate" network which you have to pay £20 for which lets you "Connect 3 device at a blisteringly fast 10 Megabits per second". I'm not joking. It says that on the website when you connect to it, what an eye opener......

It says Kcom in the bottom corner 😆. I even thought Kcom was a gigabit capable FTTP network?

Maybe its one of those "gigabit capable" FTTC networks?

When 30Mb is "superfast" I guess 10Mb probably can be categorised as "blisteringly fast"............like 33Mb is 10% quicker than "superfast".....

I think OFCOM should make ISP's use animals for broadband speeds, would work much better....gigabit could be an entry level "Rabid honeybadger"

I do notice though that most of the ISPs show 10Mb as 'Fast'. Blisteringly fast is 500Mbps+ to me so it doesn't really make sense. The animal thing is almost like orange used to do with their pay and go plans but nevertheless it's still the best 😆

So here's my suggestions for OFCOM following my previous idea, all speeds are expected to be delivered on or above above their minimum requirements for 23 of 24 hours.

<50Mbps Sloth "to tired to eat" package
50>100Mbps Meerkat "mid-day snack" package
100>300Mbps Tiger "Wilder-beast buffet" package
300>700Mbps Giant Panda "Bamboo crunch" package
1Gbps Rabid Honey badger "Shred everything" package

Best thing I've heard all day and it's only 7:30 😆

FYI since you're using an EE router with 3 Network: unless you're using the very latest routers released by EE, you'll have no support for B1 LTE which in my experience makes a big difference not just with speed but more importantly with the random stalling/weirdness most of us have experienced with 3.

I have noticed 3 keeps bouncing between B1 and B3 (traffic management?), and when B1 gets taken out of the equation, I keep getting bizarre stalls on website loading.

Thats my experience at least, ymmv

Yes, it appears to be the case, I know because my B3 is 5 lights and B1 is 4 lights on the router, so can tell when it switched to B1 as primary. I find B3 generally provides 80% of the speed anyway and B1 delivers little extra bandwidth, if any (due to my mast contention) anyway.

I dont generally have a problem with using it, the only reason why I use Three with an EE router is because the router was from an old EE contract (the one where I was mistreated by reps and my account wasn't set up correctly etc, overall I'm never going to use them again) that expired that I was paying way to much for anyways. I bought a three SIM in and all I care really is that it works with B3 and B20. I haven't a problem with it and it works fine on 3G too.

I do have a BT branded one which is slightly newer but BT blacklisted it as they do when you cancel your internet because one of their reps screwed up our contract so it is now deceased
