Lebara/Vodafone packet loss

Yeah but majority dont have but everyone on lebara gets it , i tried talkmoble its even worse packetloss 24/7.

Im going to get a voxi sim and see if thats any better

My friend uses a Voxi SIM and packet loss is a problem. I think it's safe to say it'll affect all Voda MVNO's.

Anyone on capped data seeing the large packet loss? I'm wondering if you're seeing inflated usage or if their network is at least ignoring the inevitable retransmitted data (I am very certain EE do not :D )

edit:

This is a big statement? Surely most people will just think the service is crap, but won't dig into why. (The people posting on forums are obviously a small minority of customer base)

Yeah you’re right actually i was just under the impression Voda intentionally does this and they’re own customers probably wouldn’t experience such service

No packet loss today/tonight, I'm assuming it's the same for you @mikeliuk ?

Do you get packetloss at night?
For me its approximately 5pm-11:30pm

And im thinking to get a voxi unlimited sim for one month is it any better with the packetloss ?

It's a friends connection but I set it up/monitor it, the packet loss is from around 4/5pm until late evening as you say. He's on Voxi having tried Lebara and Voda and it's no different, the packet loss is across all of them.

I'm not sure if there are any cheap ways into O2 these days, at least not as cheap as Three or Vodafone.

For unlimited, on O2/GiffGaff/Tesco Mobile it's usually £30-£35/month. Tesco has a £25/month plan, but that's a 24 month contract.

You can look at Scancom pre-paid SIMs (their Amazon prices are often lower than their website). Around £15 a month if you have the money to pay upfront.

But... test before doing anything. Just because it's the same mast and the same bands it doesn't mean that it will perform as well.

I used a o2 sim before same location it was wonderful

I wanted to add another data point into this thread: I have been experiencing the same issue with Lebara (Vodafone) here in Edinburgh and it's really awful. It usually happens in the morning and early afternoon. Packet loss can go up to 15% at times, with half second average rtt. When it's bad download can go bellow 3mbps - interestingly upload never goes that low. My connection to the tower is quite decent, -53dbm at the moment.

Btw I wasted almost an entire hour on a chat with support and at the end they told me to send an e-mail to care at lebara.co.uk with speedtest.net screenshots :/

There are people on the Vodafone forums who have provided detailed examples of their packet loss issues for months now and support simply do not acknowledge it for what it is. There is no sign of a resolution so save yourself the stress and move to someone else. That's all I can add really, even if you're not likely to get the same speeds as Voda you'll likely have a better quality of service on less bandwidth but no packet loss - that's certainly been the case with my friends transition from Voda to Three anyway.

I've just tried packetlosstest.com and I got 20.8% packet loss down, 0.0% up on voxi (vodafone) in Edinburgh. Weirdly though, the Ookla speedtest app is showing zero packet loss.

@mikeliuk , if you happen to be monitoring Vodafone still have you noticed if the packet loss fault is getting any better? I no longer have hourly monitoring set up as my friend changed provider. However I do use Lebara for my phone SIM and out of curiosity every so often I'll do a packet loss test and for the last week or so I have had no loss at all.

Feels like medium badness between 1800 and 2000 at the moment. I was away for a week and noticed two such packet loss bursts similar to as below (sub-10% packet loss rather than near 40%). Currently, only one such burst shows so yesterday (Sunday) was exceptionally good. This is the second month of a VOXI offer and it's uncertain whether I will keep at GBP 20/mth or move to Scancom EE for cheaper.

Fair, thanks for confirming the fault still exists. I wouldn't take what I did as conclusive in fairness, it was a quick packetlosstest.com on a few evenings this week, but it surprised me as I would always get some kind of loss.

My house is running on Three, but if Vodafone did resolve this issue I'd love to move to Vodafone as it provides the strongest signal and I'd be able to move the unsightly antenna from the front of the house to the rear. I just performed a packet loss test on my voda work sim on my phone and still get loss 😞
