Lebara VoLTE/VoWiFi for Google Pixel

What Pixel do you have and did you apply the update? I remember in one update a few months back I had to do a second reboot for WiFi calling to work after a feature drop was installed.
Pixel 8 pro, August update, rebooted several times since, including a network reset.

I've been in a 5G area today that worked fine before the summer and now it stays on 4G, I'm wondering if this fix is only cosmetic. Does anyone have any experience of being on 5G since the August update?

I've sent this to Google via the phone feedback if anyone else is inclined to do the same:

There's no 5G on the device since the June 2024 update. I'm using the Lebara mvno in UK. They've had volte and vowifi for over a year but it's only with the June 2024 pixel update that this started working, however at exactly that same update time the 5G preferred disappeared in the menu and 5G stopped working, it worked before. The August update put 5g preferred back in the menu but it doesn't actually work, when I'm in a 5G area I still only get 4G.

Disable adaptive connectivity before making a report imo, your phone might just avoid 5G if you're not using much data.

I want O2 SA on my Pixel 😭

There's definitely no 5g traffic, I'm in a 5g area right now. Disabled adaptive and 4g shows as the connection. Tried setting preferred network as 4g then back to 5g that didn't make a difference. Tried *#*#4636#*#* and setting it to NR only but phone still uses 4g.

I think this update has been purely cosmetic sadly, can anyone else get 5g?

Seems to be the same with mine. It says Data network type: LTE but 5G at the top but speed test says 4g.

On my Xiaomi it says data network type: NR_NSA

I've just popped a new Lebara (£1 for 6 months 12gb offer) in my Pixel 6 and everything seems fine. ie: 5G data straight away and wifi calling. Did a quick speedtest:

My P9P says 5G on speedtest, but phone info still says data network type LTE and no 5G speeds.

What does phone info say on yours? (*#*#4636#*#*)

June operator settings:

That's interesting, same operator version as me. Do you have adaptive connectivity enabled? I'm not in a 5G area right now to try again, so far you're the only person who has come back to say they have 5G so I'm a bit confused.

Edit: I've been on a chat with Lebara who said they've turned 5G on and to restart my phone but I don't know if it's worked as I'm not near 5G and there was no provisioning message when I restarted.

I noticed earlier that 5G isn't activating on some new SIMs in the porting issues thread I think?

Yes, adaptive connectivity is toggled to On on my phone.

My SIM was fine before June when the Google update broke 5g and fixed vowifi, the SIM is a good couple of years old at least. Maybe they have activated 5g, seems strange though as it worked fine before. I'm always dubious when someone says they've enabled something but no provisioning message comes through, I won't know for sure until I'm in a 5g area though.

Another edit: this is very weird and may explain my problem, 5g coverage may have been turned off where I've been trying! For some reason all the 5g coverage where I was has been removed from Vodafone's coverage map. I've never come across this before where 5g coverage has been removed on their map!

Slightly off topic but someone mentioned here they had a working example. I'm thinking of switching to a OnePlus 12, does this work with Lebara for Wi-Fi Calling and VoLTE? Vodafone do not show these phones in their list of supported devices, but it was mentioned here by someone that the latest update to fix the Pixel Wi-Fi calling support, also enabled Wi-Fi Calling on their OnePlus.

I would be tempted to start a thread just for that phone on Lebara, I'm not sure many people here would be looking out for the OnePlus 12.

Really in an ideal world we shouldn't have to do this as WiFi calling is pretty fundamental and volte fairly essential with 2g and 3g networks closing down, but I seem to remember someone suggesting we would be amazed just how thrown together some mobile networks are and in some circumstances it's surprising how they are able to work at all!

What download speeds were you getting?

My p9pxl with Lebara says 5g, and 25meg d/l
My Xiaomi with a Vodafone SIM,5g, 185meg d/l
iPhone 15 pro max, 5g, with a Lebara SIM 319meg

I'm also getting somewhat disappointing speeds on my Pixel 8 with Lebara 5G in London. I am dual-simming with an old 4G EE SIM for comparison, and when I do spot checks I regularly get much higher speeds (e.g. 150 Mbit/s vs. 20 Mbit/s) on EE 4G.
