Liberty Broadband pricing

I've just read Firstnet may be planning (it's a rumour)to re-price it's new Wireless 512k connection to 29.99 a month (rumour exc VAT)

Great stuff :)

Not a rumour!

That price was confirmed to me verbally by customer service at Firstnet last Friday and by the bill I got the next day for continuation of my TeLiberty2 service with them for the rest of this month and beyond.

It's still not clear what the package will include (web hosting, mailboxes, IP address etc, etc) and whether it will be significantly different from before, but I guess these things will clarify over the next few weeks.

Right now, I'm simply relieved to be getting decent wireless BB for a tenner less than I expected.

New Price

Hi *,

Spoke to someone at firstnet the other day about my account take over, and I was not much impressed about the new changes.

Basically the £29 deal offers 64kb during the day (which unfortuantely includes weekends) and during the night time offers the 512kb, which start after 6PM every evening.
While the week is fine(because I would not use the internet during the day time), however the weekend this would not be acceptable.

The other offer would be for me to change the contract over from Tele2 to firstnet for another 12 months and this way the price would drop to £35... However this does not offer an option as I cannot garante that I can afford to commit myself for another 12 months starting from this point. Don't take me wrong I will continue my contract at the current rate but at least I know when I can cancel the service.

While the connection service is great compared to dialup, I suspect that firstnet will just keep the price as high as possible as they know that we(the people using the tele2 service)do not have a choice and have to use their service unfortunatly. I'm hoping that one day telewest will finally convert all their systems to digital so that I then can have an option and hopefully make the move to a more affordable service, with possibly even higher speed.

...Just imagine 64kb for £29... I would be better off getting dialup.

What they should do is increase the connection to 1MB for the current £39(£47 inc VAT)/£35 offer and that would be perfect.

It's a shame!

I agree entirely. The £39 rate is WAY too high in the current market. They should either reduce the price or look at offering 1Mb, even at weekends/evenings, to make the pricing structure justifiable in comparison to ADSL. My area has had ADSL since day 1 and Tele2 running side by side with it (subsidised though). How on earth do they expect to compete when their pricing will scare off the public?
