Line problems?

I have run tests on my line - i took an adsl line straight from the master to the modem. Now i get a better SNR margin by around 3 and on the master it doesnt keep dropping down and up.

But i did another test and heres where i think my router has the info mixed up. It says my UP is...

SNR Margin 29.0 dB & Line Attenuation 22.5 dB
This will allow 7.2 -> 8.0mb ADSLMax. But heres the weird part...

My Down is this:

SNR Margin 19.2 dB & Line Attenuation 44.3 dB
This will allow 4.6 -> 5.1mb ADSLMax.

According to BT the download has a bigger bandwidth capability then upload as shown on howstuffwork.com and they think that my router has the details wrong. ALTHOUGH BT Checker says 3.5mb or more down on the line and I am 2.3klm from the exchange.

So i just dont understand it.. do i need to get an engineer to get a new plate on the master?
Do you think my SNR is too low?

Big problem! I noticed after the tests my download is the same but my upload is now limited to 3.3kb up - Whats gone wrong :(

I'm lost as to what exactly the problem is, and you left the ISpr chat room is such a hurry we didnt get chance to respond. What exactly is the problem?

Do you think my SNR is too low? does your adsl connection work? if so then its fine. Remember there is 3km between you and the exchange im sure another few cm isnt going to make that much difference, if you have a crap line you have a crap line.

LOL sorry about that -had internet issues.

It works but heres the thing theres a lot of CRC and errored seconds. Im going to try the test socket now...

I used to get a lot of CRC errors here unless I disconnected the telephone extensions and hooked the modem up to the test connection, someone suggested disconnecting the telephone extension's ring wire at the master socket, because it picks up interference. I've now just got wires 2 and 5 connected, and I get a slightly better downstream SNR and fewer errored seconds in a month than I was getting every day.

There's an explanation here:- http://yarwell.blogspot.com/2005_08_01_yarwell_archive.html

Alternatively you can filter all the extensions at the master socket and run a new unfiltered ADSL telephone cable to your modem (or have a router by the master socket and run an ethernet cable to the PC) http://www.solwise.co.uk/adsl_splitters.htm

Narrowed it! Now we have an estimate of 7.2MB! What an improvement!!

SNR Margin 25.9 dB (sometimes 26.1)
Line Attenuation 43.6 dB
ADSLMAX: 6.5 -> 7.2MB!! Was 4.6 to 5.1!!

There is a fault in the second extention.. looking into it - will reply later.
