List of 5G NR cellular/mobile routers

Thought it'd be useful to make a new list of the ones I'm aware of and that are the most significant that people might consider looking into. Non-retail routers only available from certain service providers might be omitted due to lack of control and/or ownership.

Netgear Nighthawk (M5) MR5100, significant for being an early choice by a large US service provider, expensive.

I want to purchase this one

but with this pricing, too expensive! if it was around £250 I would grab it!
Early in its release, it was ~£500 (probably a mispricing) from Amazon Warehouse but now consistently over £600 and £700.

From using the MR1100, the MR5100 was on my wishlist for some time as one of the few portable routers that operate with battery removed.

The issue is lack of flexibility of non-open firmware, lack of switch-ports, and my found interest in industrial routers with SMA antenna support.

I saw the dual-LTE (c.f. dual-SIM) Teltonika RUTX12 for about £260 for some time which I passed on and regret a little.

Cheaper via Netgear website but I do hate one things stupid TS9 connector x 2

@mikeliuk the Zyxel nr2101 and the dlink 2101 are the same device as the ZTE mu5001.

Three different firmwares, same hardware
I also had my suspicions about that. I recall two of the manuals looked a little different but didn't investigate further. The main issue I had was that apparently these won't function with battery removed.

Whats a good mobile 5g router with ethernet port?
Most do have at least one Ethernet port, even portable mobile routers. Mikrotik and Teltonika are good brands for more experienced users. ZTE and Huawei models can be cheaper for consumers. Netgear seems rather expensive but also good for consumers.

I'm not aware of any particular model of 5G NR mobile router being bad. Perhaps there are more complaints of Huawei, ZTE, and Zyxel routers but they are also going to be much more prevalent due to lower price and supply by service vendors. The valid complaints may be of lack of functionality which a user might decide they want based on first-hand experience.

I thought routers were better than phones for 5g?

Also I need the router to run in modem mode/Bridge mode/ip passthrough mode etc.

I quite like the zte mu5001 but I am not sure if it does these modes. Or a phone might be better but I have a s23 ultra and whilst the download speed is good the upload speed is less than 10mbps.

Yeah, a phone will not have a bridge mode (although if you are persistent it can be done).
For better uploads see if you can get a better "line of sight".

Which ISP btw?
