LLU & ADSL Max

Hi,

What's the difference between ADSL Max and LLU?

I pretty much understand LLU, but I'm not clear on ADSL Max - for all I know they could be one and the same.

Andy

LLU - by which means the internet service provider installs there own equipment into a local bt exchange, this is usually based on ADSL 2+ hardware which is must faster than convential adsl

Max Dsl - upto 8mb depending on the quality of your phone line however your line may be able to support higher speeds than it is currently this is due to any faults bt may have on the local circuits usually they will not replace a faulty circuit and will reduce your broadband speed.

Hope that helps.

2+ is normally only worth getting if your loop loss is uner 30-35db if your much over that then you get around the same some times worse due to the nature of the live floating sync rate in 2+, if your close enough to the exchange then it is possible to have 2.5meg upstream and 22meg downstream data rates.

has anyone else noticed a change on he talktalk.cpw llu exchange status for their exchange. Mine has changed from 31/08/06 to RFS Date Set. Not that i'd use it, but its just interesting.

Just checked mine. Although it says "date set" the RFS date is listed as "unknown" under the CPW LLU list - but then again according to Samknows CPW hasn't unbundled any exchanges yet.

Mines changed from Carphone Warehouse: RFS date set: 31/08/2006

To Carphone Warehouse: Not available

Mind you also according to Sam

SDSL status: Not available
SDSL enable date: 04 Sep 2005

just had my letter from Eclipse saying LLU is soon going to be used to provide my broadband, there is however an option to opt out of the move.
