in high traffic areas most probably from what l hear my local network (which lm just outside the range of) is really bogged down and l know someone round this area going through a similar dilemma, however my mate in bedford is sitting pretty and is very happy with speeds etc.. hell he gets a meg upload...

Yeah location seems to be a huge factor, and when you consider it was small cable companies using different equipment and technology that were brought and ended up as NTL, (then you know the rest...) I guess this is why there are such variations, and they are bound to oversubscribe their networks...

I have been a customer for many years but can say I had outages the longest lasted 3 days.

Have to say I am having speed issues, in the evening many pages come with error and have to refresh sometimes more than once. I am on 4MB connection would hate to have a 10MB

No speed test when this is happening shows my speed has dropped, I know DNS problems and tried openDNS with same results Data just stops the modem can be unplugged and replugged in without any change. sometimes constantly asking to ping or tracert a website can start data moving again.

Strange how its always after 4pm..

Well if it only occurs within certain time periods we all know what that means! (for those of you who dont lol it means it is a contention issue)

Erm only the ones who go on how to look good naked.

I am sure you have, I am just quite surprised that cable customers have contention issues when for me that was always the selling point and now its 'Virgin Media' they are acting dead snooty making out they are are a cut above ADSL and ADSL is so inferior.

imho it is but for it to actually stay been better networks need to be upgraded imho.

Cables biggest problem is the top people are USA where their cable infrastructure has no competition. Here its a different ball game and they don't konw our pitch..
