looking for book keeping software

I have been asked by a friend to locate some book keeping software that doesnt crash and does what its supposed to lol.

basically all it really needs to do is track appointments, however at the same time it would be extremely useful to be able to track whether the clients have paid as well and also be printable so each day could be printed off in a jobsheet of sorts. tho if it had the ability to work out tax etc as well it would be a bonus. but l guess essentially what he needs is a calendar of sorts which he can use to note jobs and their payments on.

any suggestions would be useful, ideally tho price on software recommendations would be useful to keep low but lm interested in any suggestions.

Does your friend have a smartphone?

I'd have thought the ideal would be some desktop or online software which also works with a smartphone e.g. you can see the diary when out and about, insert new appointments, and have it synchronise with the desktop app. From which you could then print time/job sheets etc.

This might be a good starting point:

If the mobile app is the essential part, perhaps best to start there and find one which works with a desktop rather than the other way around. QuickBooks appears to have both.

definitely interesting, they are the type of features lm looking for tho ideally it would have been interesting to have the ability to be able to use our own server. lve passed along the information to see what they think.

Why not to develop your own one? I've outsourced related services to the IT company (needed custom CMS for the group of projects with advanced mobile functionality) and they managed to deliver the product I require. I'm fully satisfied with this custom solution as otherwise it'll be really hard to find exactly what you're looking for. Have been using services by

Could you tell more about your suggestion? Where are its reviews?

I have developed my own one. It's a complete back office which does everything (categories, products, customers, invoices, credit notes, PSP integration) and integrates with e-com websites.

Lovely... but it took literally years to reach this point. Even if I took just the billing menu and split that part out into one app, the development is still intensive if you want to replicate what even QuickBooks has out of the box.

A bit like website forum software - you perhaps only really go custom if you absolutely have to as there's so much out there which is highly functional and presents a fairly standard UI with which people are familiar. Or, if you enjoy writing code :)
