Looking for a free program that you can install on a machine, and have it check others.
It would do something like ping defined machines, every so often which is determined by the user (every hour, 2 hours, etc) and then alert someone if no response to a ping is given.
So, for example, the host machine thats running the program checks 4 other machines (defined by IP address) every 30 mins.
Machine two has either lost connectivity or has gone down (i.e. not responding to pings), so the program on the host machine alerts the admin.
Prefferably by email, although other methods would be good.
Any ideas on how to do this?
