Looking for some Fibre training for a couple of my team - any suggestions?

What does your team do?

What sort of fibre training did you have in mind?
Basically need to get the guys ECS cards to get on site - now beginning to be asked for these more and believe it needs to be formal training to get the ECS?

Sorry my experience is from the commercial comms infrastructure / networking side of the industry rather than from the electrical contracting side.

I’m presuming this is to meet site regs, induction etc. for guys (and girls)? Id so I’d lookup ECS recognised training companies.

Otherwise if they need classroom and practicals on structured cabling (copper/UTP) + fibre installation and termination/splicing training for commercial installs, I’d look at a BICSI-approved training providers.

Some fibre suppliers and wholesalers provide dedicated modular training geared and aimed at the telecoms and OSP side of the industry too.

Depending on exactly what you (the company) do see if there are any links through your industry trade body (for Electrical contractors ECA / JIB / NiCEic) Also have a look at https://www.ecscard.org.uk/card-types to see what card you could qualify for *if any*(disclosure, I work very, very closely with the ECS card team & the requirements are much tighter than they were a few years ago) the required Health & Safety test is not difficult so most people who are reasonably sensible (& are willing to put in some time to learn the answers) should be able to pass just using the online tools that are available (most of the answers are common sense really)

I've been told for the new datacomms card (infrastructure installer card) you need a level 3 qualification now. It used to be be the city and guilds level 2 but ECS seem to be forever changing the goal posts. I believe you can get the CNET CNCI or city and guilds level 3 which will tick the box along with the ECS health and safety assessment. I've got my c&g lvl 2 but have been told i'll need to upgrade or do the CNET course when i next have to renew my ECS card (july 2023). I'm currently torn between paying for the Lvl 3 modules or to just invest in CNET/CNCI which seems to be more widely referenced and required by contractors. If anyone has any advise as to which is the better option city and guilds or CNET that would be appreciated.

Do these "Guys" work for you directly or are they SE or Contractors that work for you here and there, part time when needed or full time.

Who do you Work for?, are you a Contracting to your Customer, is your Contract / Customer a A N Other Company who is using an Independent Sites Company for current Works that are ongoing or are you working as a contractor directly to the Sites Company, if the first option when you do your RAMS (Risk and method Statements) who are you sending them to and who signs them off.

Also as a side note do You or your Business Liability and Risk Insurance cover your Guys as well or do they have Full Insurance themselves, are they working at Heights, Underground (inc Cabling), Confined Spaces and Other High Rick areas, if so you probably going to need more than just ECS.
