Looking for temporary FTTC connection while waiting for FTT0

Hi, so essentially we are getting fttp installed by openreach on nov 1st, but until then we have no existing broadband. Having no internet for 20 ish days really won't work for us, so i was wondering if theres any way for me to find an available FTTC provider in the mean time, or really if theres anything i can do to get internet access in these 20 days? It seems hard as most companies only provide fttp nowadays

You can get mobile contracts for a month with no commitment to continue. Put one in your phone and set it up as a wifi hotspot.

Cost you around twenty quid for unlimited data.

It depends on whether that is a firm installation date (with an ISP) or a likely network install by OR.
If a firm commitment and OR infrastructure is present then you can be more confident that you only need to cover the 20 days but any interim solution needs to be extendable in case.

Requesting FTTC without a long term contract would probably attract upfront costs even if you could arrange it.

Check mobile signal for the 4 suppliers by borrowing phones or PAYG SIMs.

A mobile solution is probably enough to bridge you but if business use I would keep long term broadband backup as a requirement if investing in equipment so this interim solution can be used going forward.

If you can get a good 4G signal and speed then you can use:
  • A cheap MIFI device or phone as a WIFI hotspot
  • A Tethered phone to a Travel Router (around £60) providing both WIFI and Ethernet
  • Purchase a 30 day contract Mobile Broadband package with one of the main mobile providers.
  • Consider your longer term network router for FTTP and SIM failover either by separate devices or a combined router.

Cuckoo broadband does rolling monthly contracts but you pay the premium for that and have to pay £60 setup fee too. Is 5G/4G not an option, it seems like the quickest/cheapest option if you've got a phone you can use as a hotspot.
