Lyca Mobile: Suspicious Card Transactions

interesting, so what's the average max speed at that point then?
I used my Spusu 5GB up in a few minutes trying to do speed tests, every time it reached 300 megs that was it, connection reset and had to try again, hence why I switched to Talkhome.

Haven't activated Talkhome yet but I think it will be just fine, you get 10GB for your £5 instead of Spusu's 5GB. (Via MSE)🥳☺️

I know it doesn't have WiFi calling or VoLTE, but that's a non issue if you just want uninterrupted data.:)

Correct - But you wont beable to burst past a certain speed - Its usable for a decent chunk of stuff - Downloading you might face issues though
From memory I think someone worked out if they capped their device from not downloading anything at a rate faster thab 3Mb they were able to manage sustained downloads without issue and was essentially unlimited.

I understand, but if I was able to get anything close to 180 Mbps on any SIM, I will be 🕺:D
Oh I completely agree, but I only want the data for doing speed tests when off on a trip somewhere. :giggle:

Response from the ICO:

"Dear garetc,

Thank you for your complaint of 15 May 2024 about Lyca Mobile UK. I understand you are unhappy with how the organisation has handled your personal information following a security incident. Part of our role is to consider complaints from individuals who believe that there has been an infringement of the data protection law and to provide them with an outcome.

From the evidence you have provided, it appears something may have gone wrong and that a breach may have occurred.

We have now recorded your complaint and provided recommendations to Lyca Mobile UK on how to improve their data protection practices, however we do not intend to take any further action"

What more do you need to take action?!?!?!?1

Somebody just attempted to make a nearly £500 hotel booking on a Curve card I only used on Lyca. I am extremely glad Lloyds blocked it (where the curve card actually takes money from) that it did not go through as I would be out of most of my money for the month. Curve card support has been 0 help at all

They’ve always been pretty rubbish at CS!

Totally forgot I had the curve card to be honest until I saw the email they sent about the transaction, won't even let me close it as the app just errors out. Support could take up to 3 days to respond according to their bot. Lovely

Curve cancelled my card 3 years ago for apparently making dodgy transactions.

Dunno how they picked up on me buying some bits from the local sainsbury's but not this!

Had a Samsung Pay+ Curve had a few years back, kept getting double-charged. Whilst support were pretty good are refunding, the repeated occurrences put me off.

That's the reason I had it before, my card wouldn't let me add it to Google Pay for whatever reason despite my bank supporting it, so signed up to Curve and used it through Samsung Pay. It randomly let me add it to G Pay one day and I stopped using Curve. I was under the assumption that Samsung Pay/Apple Pay/Google Pay used virtual card numbers that are different every transaction so is why I counted it as only ever using it on Lyca. I'm now currently seeing purchase attempts from Wayfair or Wells Fargo. I can't quite get a clear answer from what I'm finding. Shows up as WF* UK on the Curve app

I had it for Samsung Pay on my Samsung watch, my bank didn’t support Samsung Pay and they didn’t have Google Pay at the time.

I know a certain user is going to say it purely coincidence just had a active card check from a random knives business on one of my virtual Wise card only used once at you know who 🤔.

I had a random card check 2 days ago on my virtual card which was given to Lyca.
Seems its still going on...

On a side note...
One word
One company
One truth.

Lycamobile
Sounds like either a MLM or a homage to the Brotherhood Of Nod...
