Mac code in hand new isp provider recomended please

Hi there as you can tell by the title am looking for a new adsl broadband provider.I am currently on tesco.net 512k so slooooow but only £17.00.I am looking for around 1-1.5meg speed which is all my line can take.I am looking for something cheap and cheerfull.Something maybe cheaper than tesco which is unlimited.I dont mind paying a little extra for good support a a decent download limit any help would be greatly appreciated cheers.:)

Fast4.net seem to be hooving up customers looking for cheap unlimited **cough**500Gb*cough** connections. But if you do go with them be warned that their customer support line (0905 06 number) costs you 60p / min.

Same dilema, i am going to change ISP tomorrow, top of the list so far http://www.adsl24.co.uk/ an Entanet reseller you know exactly what you are getting, plus a 24hr support hotline recently added, freephone as well. Home include the vat, most others dont.
Sent an email earlier asking varied long winded questions, all answered and returned within 7 mins with a feeling of honesty!

Hi there yes the adsl 24 isp looks good is a peak 30 gb a lot and is the 300gb off peak good for £19.99.I am not used to capping as i have always been on unlimited package.Do you think i will go over with the earlier info supplied.Plus any hidden charges that i would incur after a month if i left. Can anyone who is actually with this isp at the momemnt give me any information on what there like please. Thanks in advance.

eclipse also offer an evolution package for £18.99 per month which is uptp 8mb and offers 30gb at peak times 6pm till midnight and unlimited outside these times.......uk based customer services ..... free migration

New isp

Hi Gordon i see you recommend eclipse evolution but in another thread it says you are looking to move from them????

Are you having problems with them. I lived in hull and it is run by kingston comms and it is karoo in hull as hull had no other choice of an isp due to the monopoly of KC.

alansw8 yes i am considering moving from eclipse because i am on the old flex 500 paying £18 per month for 512k hope that if i phone for mac code and quote aol 2mb for £15 or sky for £10 they will up speed and reduce cost or i may be forced to move. dont want evolution as with 3 kids who all use msn etc during peak hours and i do download around 4 or 5 p2p files per month i am reluctant to get a package with caps... otherwise i have had no major gripes with eclipse get an aveage speed of around 550 to 620k ever at around 9pm......

but the evolution package seems similar to the adsl 24 but without the 300gb non-peak usage so i thought it might be relevant to inform adam 7157

Adsl24

Hi Guys

I seriously considered ADSL24 as per my last thread which requested info on a good provider

All there packages seem good, and many favourable reports

The reson then that I did not go the Adsl24 was purely telephone service. I called Saturday and left a message for more info. I called Monday and got an answering machine and left another message. I then read there website, and was told not to be discouraged by this as it was standard practice to give other callers a chance for not only sales but also Support

I called Keconnect same day, and had no such issues and they picked up quickly as did my call to there support team

So to recap - I am sure ADSL24 are wonderful, and to be quite honest they did call me back that Monday Afternoon. I was just dazzled by the phone call to Keconnct and thats what clinched it for me. ADSL24 was my second choice and I would definatly consider them in the future if there service and reports continue at the level I have seen here

Avoid Sky, Pipex, Tiscali etc etc though - I can comment for hours on Pipex being my last provider and have read about the other 2, and I am happy to find this forum and web place, the reviews seem genuine and the comments truthful

I hope the provider of choice comes to you soon and all I can say is you really do get what you pay for in the end

:-)

I am currently with Tiscali but i asked for a mac code last tuesday so it should be with me by tomorrow but knowing Tiscali i doubt i will receive it even with the new rules regarding mac codes.

I am seriously looking at fast4.net as they havent had many reviews but when i sent a message on their site regarding taking them up they had called me back within ten minutes and we had a long conversation regarding their package and limits and it was all very interesting and with them saying no limits up untill about the 500 gb mark. They did a line check and said i should get speeds of up to 7.1 on my line so it would be a vast improvement on tiscali as i think they are controlling my bandwith to a max of under 2mb when i pay for 8mb and of course on the peak times my speed can go down as low as been on 56k dial up.

Will keep you all updated on what isp i decide to go for with fast4.net been top at the moment.

alansw8 i too hav considered fast4 just isnt enough info about them or much reviews if i decide to leave eclipse i would be looking at aol for 2mb (stable ) connection but it seems tey are now throtteling speeds or if i fancy adsl max it would be fast4.net 500g should be enough bandwidth even with the odd psp download each week

keep u posted

i'm with u ringer watching fast4 closely now that they are claiming to be unlimited and if i were not happy with them i can now get my mac and move and only pay £20 as i would be a migrating customer..##

£20 i feel is a small exit fee to pay if i were unhappy........

i have to agree too, im looking at fast4 with interest and also sidnet but sidnet has no telephone support which is a bit of a downer.Having handed in my mac request to eclipse because of throttling and traffic shaping which means during daylight hours which to them must be up to 12 midnight(go figure?),i am getting no upload speed at all.If i join fast4 and feel their service is no good i can get out quickly without too much financial loss.

hi people.

I signed up to fast4.net on 1st march and was up and ruinning with them on 6 march making it just over 3 working days as 2 days were over the weekend and getting a constant speed of about 2mb during this settling in period and downloaded in excess of 30gb in these first 6 days with no problems and when i have asked regarding setting up of the e mail account a chap called jonathon has always replied within a 2 hour time scale( lunch hour) so well pleased with service so far.
