Medion 19 TFT monitors

Hi, does anybody know about Medion TFT's?

Local shop ( Makro ) has a 19'' for sale..works out to £200, quite cheap for a 19 i thought? Thouh i cannot find any garb out about it what so ever as its listed without a model number, unless i visit the shop to look.

I shall try to put a picture to help you...apologies to dial up but i could not find one on the net so have inserted it.

Thanks.

ok, i cant figure how to get the pic from my pc to here..bugger

It's silver..with speakers at each bottom corner and the power button in the middle (vague but thats all there is).

I often buy Medion products from Aldi every other week as the warranty on them can't be beaten 3 Years on most products. This week they are doing a 42" Plasma for £999 produced by Samsung/LG with a 3 year warranty and free stand.

Also you will find most stores have a small glass cabinet with various computer bits in it or by the checkouts. For instance Wireless Broadband Modem, which also has a 56k modem in it than can be used wireless and the usb adapter for £69.

Never had a problem with a medion/Tevion product yet and the helpline / warranty office is based in Swindon.

Thanks guys, cheers for the link Bob, i'll have a good look on there too..cant afford an uber one but they seem easier on the eyes than the old CRT type i currently have. I shall also check Aldi, we have one in Gt Yarmouth. Bit of a relief, dunno if you know Makro stores but they can be a swine if something goes wrong and you need to take it back!!

Muchas Gracias. A

Ps. Any good tips on things to look out for when buyin 19'' (or any) TFT? pixels etc??

I agree with butler, but get the ones with normal VGA and DVI interface, fantastic picture quality. Oh and so much cheaper than at Dell's site.

That link doesn't point anywhere near Aria!

Just be aware though that some people claim to have received refurb Dell monitors from Aria believing that they were buying brand new. I believe the give-away is the warranty - if it's 3 years then it's new, and 12 months if refurbed.

EDIT: To illustrate my point MON-TFT-DL-E193M at Aria comes with a 12 month rtb warranty, but from Dell it comes with a 3 year on site warranty. I know because I bought one from Dell recently when they had their 30% off deal on - £204 delivered.

Cheers Andy, It was the one i thought you meant. To be honest i'm torn between upping my desktop..or savin some pennies and goin laptop. i recently visited my sis over in Oxford..she has a wireless laptop system..cool. Thats a whole other question!!

Interested in the fact that TFT's are better on the eyes than CRT (my type) though i dunt get too many probs until..i upped my ram recently to 700 odd, re installed BF1942 and it plays like a dream..online too. Though a possibly cheaper way to get round that..i heard that you can get a lead to go from the grafix card (radeon 9800 pro 128..dint you recommend me that??) to my TV, Phillips 32 Widescreen..that'd sort it! Would just need the lead and i guess a wireless keyboard /mouse setup..for distance reasons. So whether all that'd be any cheaper i dunno..but it may help my Bf rsi!!

Like you say..no harm tryin it. If i do find one long enough etc..sure, i'll tell ya how it goes.

Ha, yeah the grafix card is tops..and BF is the only game i play on PC, i was (un beknown to me..) runnin XP on 256, so the 512 boost sorted it out!!

Neeeeeeoooooooooo, I'm not an elephant (that joke was so much better in my head!!) It's one of the few things I've asked advice on..and been grateful for it.

Later Andy.

Kev
