Messy Transfer to FTTP

Recently had full fibre activated in our area. When they created the line they duplicated the address with a slight difference meaning we had issues placing an order and transferring our number (looked like 2 different addresses).
Openreach now say they have fixed this issue and I have an install pending but to save any more issues I chose not to transfer my number (we only occasionally use outgoing calls).

My question is do I need to cancel my current copper line broadband or will Openreach do this? Technically there is nothing to transfer so will I end up with 2 working connections? A fibre line and a copper one?

@craigy_b Openreach will not cancel a service unless instructed to do so by your Communications Provider, I would run them in parallel for a couple of days before cancelling the broadband part of the copper line.

But what can cause your original copper service to be terminated is by asking your FTTP provider to port your phone number, that will cause the entire copper service to be ceased.

Regulars on here would recommend not posting your landline number to FTTP, and if you want to keep the number separately arranging this to be migrated to a VoIP service provider like Andrews and Arnold
