Metronet and Tiscali

Has anyone seen/heard the news of Metronet being bought by Plusnet. ALso that Plusnet is part of Tiscali?

Can someone please clarify the news between these 3 ISPs please. I have just signed up with Metronet recently, and didn't know that its linked with Plusnet/Tiscali. I hope people remember that Tiscali is the uncancellable ISP, they just take money even you have ended the contract years ago. I was one of those unlucky subscriber. Therefore if Metronnet is part of the uncancellable ISP then I will have to goto another ISP. I don;t want it to happen again, bearing with those stress trying to cancel the contract. I think I still have the choice of cancelling with Metronet, because I'm still in the cooling period.

Regards,

I think (but not certain) that Plusnet use/are trialling LLU which has been provided by Tiscali. The LLU part has no link to tiscalis broadband offering though.

Thanks for the info. Maybe for the shirt term it won't affects Metronet users, but as time goes on, they will make the service common to both ISPs. Hope the P2P download speed is not like +net, and importantly its not owned by Tiscali.

Does that means the Metronet contract get converted to +net? At present Metronet users only have to give 1 month notice for cancellation. How about +net? And how about the price change be affected if any?

I think short term there will be no difference. They've already given guarentees that there will be no traffic shaping on metronet accounts as along as you are below the upper usage allowance for your package.

If you need more info on this there are a few metronet specific forums around

The 'official' one i.e. run by metronet is at

https://forum.metronet.co.uk (you need your extranet account for this)

A customer run one (although metronet staff do post) is at

http://www.mymetronet.co.uk/forum

and if you haven't seen it yet the one on ADSLGuide has a lot of activity from customers and staff (who post officially)

http://bbs.adslguide.org.uk/postlist.php?Cat=&Board=metronet

Personally I'm holding fire at the moment to see what happens rather than rushing off for my MAC code.

Your contract is with Metronet so i'd imagion you come under Metronet Terms and Conds untill such a time that either Metronet is aboloished and comes under the +net banner or you are given notice that the terms and conditions are changing to fall inline with those of +net. When it comes down to it there is a lot of crap being said about Plusnet and again i'll argue for the money they charge the service is brill, customer support are excellent and my speeds are fine.
