MF286D slower than B535

Got a MF286D, flashed it thanks to the guide on here :-) but it is slower than my B535 :-( much slower...

The B535 was hitting 90 down and 35 up before disconnection

The MF286D is only hitting 30 down and 35 up

Both are connecting to the same tower

Both using the same external antenna

Is the issue that the MF286D is setup so only 1 external antenna covers band 3 and 20 etc and the other supports only something like band 7?

If so can this be changed?

Thanks

Which is your primary band?

Band 3 Alone (band 20 etc are all slow)
Provider?
Which antenna port you using?
Have you got a snip from the signal stats page on the MF286D? and B535?

EE

Both ports but only 1 does anything as the Left one is for Band7 on the MF286D

Not right now for the B535 but with the bookmark hack that allowed band changes they were both in the green

Thanks

Looks like your missing out on MIMO.

The B535 external antenna ports work for all bands, hence you get better speeds.

The MF286D is a great router if you can get great signal indoors without the need of an antenna. I modified mine so that the second antenna port for low bands is available externally.

If memory serves well and if your not afraid to open it up, I think you could swap the left external antenna port to the second MIMO port on the modem.

Just checked old posts.

Port 3 on the MF286D modem is 4G (low band) main antenna, port 4 is 2X MIMO secondary antenna.
1 and 5 are for diversity. I tested with a 4x4 MIMO configuration and saw no benefit so I suspect my configuration isn't good enough or the mast doesn't support.

If you swap the cables on the modem from port 2, to port 4 and vice versa, that'll effectively enable MIMO on the external antenna ports.

Don't know why I didn't do that myself to be honest rather than drill holes for extra SMA connectors.

Cool, thanks, I will do that and report back :-)

No lol just the same, going to plug the B535 back in later and re test just incase by the off chance EE speeds have dropped at that mast when I did the swap.

Is there any other settings to enable or disable on the ZTE?

Thanks

Nope. The sma ports on the router acts as a switch, switching over from internal antennas to external when you screw a connector in.

Cool, no update yet as I didn't get time but will post an update when I do.

With the B535 I was downloading a game from steam at 11 Meg per second before switching to the ZTE.

Might even try the ZTE in the attic with the internal antennas.
