Microtik SXT LTE Help if possible

Hi All,

finally moved and trying to get the 4G up and running. Currently can get 43/12 via my samsung a90.
I’ve tried setting the microtik up but I just can’t not get it to grab any bars except for one brief moment when I saw them flash on.

I have used cell mapper to locate the direction of the tower (about 500m away but just behind a hill) but I just don’t seem to be able to get it to grab a signal.
ANY pointers at all?

NB; I am using this model as it’s going into my Draytek to be load balanced with our VDSL when plusnetget sorted.

When you say "grab any bars" are you referring to the LEDs? If so I don't believe they work for the SXT LTE. You need to look at the lte stats where you will see RSRP, RSRQ, SINR, and CQI figures. Personally I find the CQI the most useful - the larger the value the better. If using these to aim the device, allow a minute for the figures to stabilise after each movement before adjusting it again.
I use a SXT LTE and Draytek too.

Ok thank you!
I’m pretty sure they worked before when testing at the old house hence why I was relying on them.

now to find the laptop and get it plugged in so I can check the stats 👍

Yes, or simply reset the MikroTik to it's factory values and then run the simple setup. It's possible that if you had it working well at your old house that it has carried over a setting which is no longer relevant.

...and leave the Draytech out of the loop for the moment until you have the MikroTik working. So connect the MikroTik direct to the laptop.

Thank you, yep did a factory reset and I am dealing with it hooked directly to the laptop at the moment, just refusing to give me any sort of LTE connection. Wondered if it’s the sim but it works fine in the phone, although it does get out in a size adapter to go in the mikro

I wonder if it's registered that there's a SIM in there at all? The SIM is pretty fiddly to get in there in the Mikrotik and using an adaptor as well perhaps it just hasn't made a connection?

You should be able to see the SIM's details if it is selected, even in the absence of a phone signal. Remember that there are 2 SIM slots - check that you have the right one enabled.

Sorry guys, new house mare!
I ordered a B818 as a stop gap as I need to work and that fired up straight away with 40/25

I’m not seeing two slots on the mikro, just the one slot and it seems like the sim in engaging ok

I’m not seeing two slots on the mikro,...
Ah, actually is yours the "SXT LTE", or the "SXT LTE Kit"? Mine is the latter, but I see that the former only has one miniSIM slot. I also see that the LEDs work on that model, so it seems likely that is what you have. However, it only works with bands 7 and 3 - which aren't always available. Do you know what bands are used by your provider on the mast you're trying to connect to?

Ah that may explain it, apologies for the confusion, so many different models!
yep when I checked using cellmapper it showed me that the mast has 3 and 20, but I’ll verify once I have connected to the 818 properly.

cracked it, just needed to manually create the APN *facepalm*

getting this at the moment but need to tune it

RSRP-89 dBm
RSRQ-11.0 dB
SINR10 dB
