Migrating to another broadband

At the moment i am using virgin broadband which cost me £24.99 for 512k connection, with virgin there is no contract, which is a good thing. I want to migrate to another provider cos i want faster broadband, i have been looking at utility warehouse which offer 1mb broadband with unlimited downloads, plus i will get the first 2 months for free by migrating to them, but i dont want to be stuck with a 12 month contract if this is not a good provider. I was looking at talk talk too which is pretty cheap but i read a lot of bad reviews on that one so i dismissed it as an option. Your feedback will be a great help. I only have till the end of march to get my first 2 months free so any quick replies will be much appreciated. Thank you.

Well I am not with Nildram but their prices look like checking out. A 2Mb connection for £25.99 with a 50Gb cap looks pretty good to me. That is if you can accept the cap as not everyone will. I am pretty sure it is a one month contract as well.

I am thinking of migrating to them if I can ever get my MAC code of my current provider - been waiting since the 22nd

Well i really could do with an unlimited broadband as I use a webcam every day and that is classed as downloading, i also download quite a bit too but utility warehouse sounds a pretty good deal to me but my current internet provider is quite reliable, i just want faster but i need it to be reliable too. I dont want to be cut off loads of times or my speed to be slow. So anyone who knows anything about utility warehouse i would appreciate some info on it and if its reliable, Thank You.

50gb is a lot of data, are you sure you'll use more than that? I just remind you that you get what you pay for.

Its worth using a meter to check your usage as i always though my bandwidth would be about 25gb a month as i listen to 128kps internet radio for about 8 hours a day in the background.

However after monitoring for two months i average around 5gb a month.

Don't forget the cap limits are Download and uploaded data added together. Not just downloads as some people think.

Currently i am paying £33 for 1mb, soon to be 2mb and then will be moving to a new provider for £25 or PAYG at £15.99

Until VOIP and tv channels online become a daily application the bandwidth should never go over 10gb a month.

With regret yes..

I have given them and also emailed them on many occasions to ask them to keep me on 1mb and reduce the price to what new customers pay. They have not bothered to answer one email out of the first 5 i sent them and the press office. The only replies i have had to another 3 emails where standard scripts.

I then asked them when they expect my highly expensive £33, 1mb service to be 2mb since i was paying more than any new customer now does and they said anytime between now and the summer depending on BT.

All i can say is i have never had a connection issue on Pipex and yes you do get what you pay for. However i can not accept the lack of replies to emails from their customer support centre to a paying customer. Nor can i accept they can't just reduce the price down to the £23 mark that new 1mb customers are paying at least until the increase to 2mb is done or just leave as requested on 1mb.

So after being with them for over 3 years on 2 accounts and getting all my family and friends moved onto them we/i have all decided to move away in protest. Something that Pipex do not feel is an issue or even bothered to respond to. It's a personal view only and not one from an ISPr Mod, but in todays business i always believe you should look after your current customer just as well as new ones.

Very odd...

So it looks like im off to a cheaper service with a 1 month no-ties contract and at around £10 a month less.

I would still recommend Pipex to people for trouble free connections, but not at £33 a month or for quick email support.

Well I keep my pc switched on all the time, I use webcams everyday viewing and recieving with my boyfriend, I also download quite a bit as does my son who uses the pc, i also listen to the online radios quite a lot so i am a little worried about having a capped service and i have no idea how to monitor how much i use, what is the meter that was talked about? i would be interested to know how much i actually use but to be honest i would prefer unlimited therefore i wouldnt need to worry if i went over the limit.

Well i have emailed Pipex's complaints section with regard to the lack of real response to my questions.. i will let you all know the response as i know i am not the only one in this situation.
