MikroTik Chateau 5G Router

Hi

I was thinking of buying a MikroTik Chateau 5G Router as found one for a decent price. Specially this model: D53G-5HacD2HnD-TC&RG502Q-EA

Seeing mixed information as to if it works with 5G network or it's just LTE only.

Does anyone own this and can advise please?

Just asked a seller on eBay and was told this:
The model D53G-5HacD2HnD-TC&RG502Q-EA is a 5G device, if the router you found on ebay can only do LTE then it's a different model.

Judging by the price in the screenshot, I would say that indeed that is a LTe-only device, ie no 5G.

It's not from eBay but someone selling somewhat local to me. It is that model though.

The model that you stated is for a 5G device afaik, check the mikrotik URL I linked previously.

Ask the neighbour if the router can do 5G, that's the easiest.

Otherwise you could go for another make and model. These units are pretty good, example:

He's not a neighbour and saying best I go to his place with a SIM, doesn't confirm if it does 5g, probably a bit ignorant.

I actually have that router but my phone is getting better speeds so wanted to try the mikrotik.

I have ont of these, brilliant router, but steep learning curve with RouterOS. It's definitely 5g and I've seen speeds over 600mbit on mine with Three. I usually aggregate band 1+3+n78+n78.

Just bought the router today after I decided not to in the first place because the WiFi light didn't come on. Then read online needs to be enabled within the router.

Now I'm at home and followed this video, but the damn WiFi light doesn't turn on. Any advice?

Have you updated the firmware to the latest version (RouterBoard as well)?
If you mean RouterOS then yes but the wireless option disappeared and only showed WiFi and there was no radio. I went back to what it was on 7.1.5.

Then I found out you have to install QCOM package. So might try updating again.

What is RouterBoard and how do you update it?

Been pulling my hair until 2am lol.

When you update the firmware you need to also update the RouterBoard FW to match. If you look under 'System' menu you should see 'RouterBOARD'.

The current 'Stable' version is 7.15.3. I know a few versions back Mikrotik split out the Wireless package from the RouterOS package. If you look at 'System\Packages' it'll show you there.

If you're still having issues after an update, try resetting the configuration ('System\Reset Configuration'). Leave all the boxes unticked and that will take it back to it's factory defaults, which should get the wireless working.

My SIM is detected in the router and I can see the stats etc. But why can't I go online? I gave it a static IP address and when I type in ip config in cmd, it says media disconnected i.e. the ethernet. It's deffo connected.

When you look at 'Quick Set' on the web interface or Winbox which configuration is active? Also, is the bridge setup for all the interfaces (you should get an 'S' next to the ethernet port in the Interface List if it's available and an 'RS' if it's connected)?

Just at work. Do you happen to be on discord by any chance?

I'm not, no.

One thing I forgot to mention, check the APN settings and make sure 'Use Network APN' is not selected. If it's selected you won't get an internet connection (but you will get all the connection stats showing).
